Our World
Belongs to God
“Our World Belongs to God: A Contemporary
Testimony” (shared with permission
by the Christian Reformed Church in North
America) is the Christian perspective
that guides Grand Rapids Christian Schools.
The Contemporary Testimony:
- summarizes
the basic ecumenical teachings of biblical
Christianity about Scripture, the Triune
God, salvation through Jesus Christ and
the work of the Holy Spirit, the church
and the Christian life, and our ultimate
hope of God’s eternal Kingdom.
- presents these teachings according
to biblical history—the creation,
fall, redemption, and consummation of
God’s
earthly Kingdom.
- uses this summary of Scripture
to provide perspective on all aspects
of God’s world—nature, human
nature, marriage and family, society,
culture, economics and business, government
and justice, science and technology,
the arts and music, recreation and sports,
as well as church and worship.
In
this way, the Contemporary Testimony provides
biblical perspective on the entire curriculum,
not just in religion courses. It
also affirms that the purpose of education
is to enable students to become spiritually
wise, world-engaging citizens of God’s
Kingdom, not just successful income-earners
and good citizens.

Christian Education
Based On God's Truth
Our Statement Of Faith
The Grand Rapids Christian Schools subscribe
to a faith in the triune God--Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that
God has revealed Himself in the Bible
as a loving God, actively in control of
human lives and history.
We also believe:
- God reveals Himself
and the way of salvation in the Holy
Bible.
- God
reveals Himself through all He has made.
- God
reveals Himself most fully in His Son,
Jesus Christ, who by a miraculous birth,
became human for our sake, suffered,
died, and was raised to conquer sin's
power and the curse of death under which
we all live.
- Jesus Christ is the Lord of all
things, both in the world and in the
church.
- Jesus
Christ desires that His followers be
His servants in this world.
- Jesus Christ will
return one day to judge all humanity.
This faith clearly has consequences
for the church and home, but also for
the Christian school. Because we believe
the Lord is Lord of all life, we also
believe obedience to Him involves us in
a thorough investigation of the world.
Students and teachers should seek to
integrate their faith in all areas of
learning and life.
Consequently, our students will be
- presented
with the message of Christ's redemption
revealed in the Bible.
- instructed in Biblical
principles to guide them to become spiritually,
intellectually, and behaviorally mature.
- encouraged
to recognize the greatness and mercy
of our Lord in every area of life.
- guided
into true knowledge of God's world, its
history, and its cultures.
- enabled to assess
the values of the age from a Christian
perspective.
