Get Healthy Funding Initiative Passes $25 Million!

by Lon Swartzentruber, executive director, Grand Rapids Christian Schools Foundation

Gifts and pledges total more than $25 million thanks to thousands of generous donors

Through the generosity of more than 2,200 donors, we have received gifts and pledges totaling more than $25 million - surpassing the initiative’s goal!

Through the Get Healthy funding initiative, the Schools will fully fund the capital costs of the new athletic stadium and gymnasium, substantially reduce long-term debt and interest expense, make needed repairs at all seven schools (including new computers in every computer lab), build endowment, and provide needed tuition assistance.

“This is a very exciting time at Grand Rapids Christian Schools and on behalf of the Board of Trustees I thank you for your prayer, encouragement, and support,” says Tom DeJonge, superintendent.

To celebrate reaching our goal, we invite you to the opening ceremony of Eagles Stadium on Friday, September 14, 2007. The dedication ceremony begins at 6 p.m. followed by the Eagles vs. Creston Polar Bears football game. We hope to see you there!

If you haven’t made your commitment yet to the Get Healthy funding initiative, there is still time. Please call Lon Swartzentruber at 616-574-6383 or Char Grasmeyer at 616-574-6377 to learn how your help can make a difference.
