Enrichment Sessions at Evergreen
Out of the Ordinary
The enrichment sessions at Evergreen Christian
are a truly unique and exciting aspect
of the school. The balanced calendar allows
for “flex weeks” during the
school year--one-week breaks that occur
about every 8 or 9 weeks. For at least
two of the four flex weeks, Evergreen will
schedule optional enrichment sessions that
offer highly motivating experiences--like
camp with an educational focus.

The variety of activities that can occur
during an enrichment session is endless
and can involve a range of multi-disciplinary
topics. The goal is to give students out-of-the-ordinary
experiences that they wouldn’t normally
have at school. For example, students
may participate in cleaning up a stream,
designing and building a robot, or creating
and painting a mural on a building. Depending
on their age, they could go on an archeological
dig or a snowshoeing excursion. They may
learn about their community and their
neighborhood by visiting local businesses,
the fire and police departments, and nonprofit
organizations. During an enrichment session,
students are encouraged to explore what’s
beyond the walls of their classroom.

Enrichment sessions, offered at a reasonable
additional cost, are also opportunities
for all Evergreen students to join together
for team-building projects. They could
create, produce and present a play, puppet
show, or any other performing arts presentation.
They could also participate in various
projects that demonstrate the love of
Christ through service to the community,
such as beautifying the neighborhood by
planting flowers and picking up trash.
Parents can be a big part of these special
sessions. They can brainstorm ideas for
enriching projects and excursions, help
take care of the details, even participate
in activities as their schedules permit.
These one-week sessions will become a
highlight for everyone involved.
