A Word from the
Board of Trustees

The Grand Rapids Christian Schools story—now more than 100 years old—has one central focus: equipping the next generation of students to love the Lord and their neighbor. Our vision for the future of Grand Rapids Christian Schools stands on this strong foundation. We believe the Get Healthy funding initiative will help us keep the vision alive and growing. Thank you for considering a gift to the campaign.

Goals of the Initiative
A funding initiative is typically designed to raise money for an array of needs. The Get Healthy funding initiative, launched in the fall of 2006, has three critical goals:

  • To significantly reduce system-wide debt for Grand Rapids Christian Schools
  • To build endowment for a stronger financial future
  • To improve the health, wellness, and fitness facilities at Christian High (for details, see Capital Improvements)

All three facets of the funding initiative are important because, together, they help position Grand Rapids Christian Schools for growth.

Counting the Benefits
The Get Healthy initiative can mean many things for students, families, and other supporters, including:

  • Helping Grand Rapids Christian Schools retire a significant portion of its $17 million long-term debt.
  • Making more money available for tuition assistance through a stronger endowment.
  • Providing students with new ways to discover healthy habits.
  • Making needed improvements to our athletic stadium and competition gymnasium.
  • Expanding athletic opportunities for student athletes of all ages.
  • Applying LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design) principles to the construction process.
  • Keeping Christian education affordable for as many families as possible.
  • Showing our kids how to praise and serve God with their whole being.
