BUILDING: Grand Rapids Christian Elementary School Evergreen (EG)
CONTRACT: 1.0 FTE
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
COORDINATES WITH: Administrative Team, Evergreen teaching team
POSITION SUMMARY
The 1st/2nd-grade multi-age teacher works with the Grand Rapids Christian Elementary, Evergreen campus professional learning community to teach from a Christian perspective, ensuring that all students are prepared to be effective servants of Christ in contemporary society. The teacher will also guide students in mastering grade-level content standards while fostering their spiritual, social, and academic growth.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaches from a Christian perspective in alignment with GRCS statement of faith

Grows in expertise of the content area and pedagogy through ongoing professional development

Collaborates with the professional learning team (PLT) to identify essential standards, create common assessments, and analyze assessment data to ensure that all students learn at a high level

Collaborates with support services to meet individual student needs

Creates lesson plans that engage students in the learning process and that have clear learning objectives within the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme

Manages a classroom by providing clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices

Gives timely feedback to students and assigns timely grades that represent accurate levels of learning

Collaborates with team teacher, K-5 teachers, and International Baccalaureate program coordinator to develop multi-age learning experiences

Communicates with parents regularly to share student celebrations and concerns
QUALIFICATIONS
- State of Michigan Certified Elementary Teacher
- Passion to work with a diverse student population from a Christian perspective
- Experience in multi-age and/or International Baccalaureate settings preferred
