OVERVIEW
CONTRACT: Part-time, hourly position (20-25 hours/week)
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
COORDINATES WITH: Immersion Instructional Staff, Grade Level Instructional Staff
POSITION SUMMARY
Grand Rapids Christian Schools seeks applicants for a part time Spanish Immersion kindergarten aide for the 2025-2026 school year. Applicants must reflect a Christian worldview in their work, be familiar with immersion program instruction and be fluent in Spanish.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be aware of and discuss with the teacher the flow of each day.
- To assist the children to independently participate in group activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers on guiding students.
- Participate in set-up and clean-up of materials and activities for each day, making sure to help with any end of the day cleaning.
- Engage with children during choice time and recess (including recess duty responsibilities).
- Prepare for and assist children at lunch time and supervise (if applicable).
- Parent Communication – Please direct any parent concerns, questions to the classroom teacher.
- Help the children explore and create meaning to what it means to be a child of God.
- Communicate with students in Spanish and encourage students to communicate back to the teacher and aide in Spanish.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- The aide may be asked/required to attend staff development opportunities, First Aid/CPR Trainings, be fingerprinted and have a background check.
- When the teacher is absent, the aide may be expected to be the lead teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Have a love and curiosity for kindergartners and their learning
- Desire to aide and support the children in their learning and development
- Willingness to help/troubleshoot and be the teacher’s extra set of hands
- Have a calling to be involved in a classroom/school environment that is intentionally Christian
- Fluent in English and Spanish
