POSITION TITLE: GRCHS PE and Health Teacher
BUILDING: Grand Rapids Christian High School
CONTRACT: 1.0 FTE
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
COORDINATES WITH: Administrative Team, PE Department Team, Director of Sports Performance
POSITION SUMMARY
The PE and Health teacher works with the Grand Rapids Christian High School professional learning community to teach from a Christian perspective, ensuring that all students in her/his classes are prepared to be effective servants of Christ in contemporary society as they learn appropriate PE and Health standards at a high level.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach from a Christian perspective in alignment with GRCS statement of faith and staff handbook

Grow in expertise of content area and pedagogy through ongoing professional development

Collaborate with the professional learning team (PLT) to identify essential standards/targets, create common assessments, and analyze assessment data to ensure that students learn at a high level

Support students in Focus sessions and office hours as needed

Create engaging lessons with clear learning objectives

Manage a classroom with clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices

Give timely feedback and grades that represent accurate levels of learning

Collaborate with counselors, program coordinators, and administrators through the student referral system and other forms of communication

Communicate with parents regularly to share student celebrations and concerns

Use Canvas, GRCHS’s learning management system, to further student learning
-
Lead a small group of students as they attend chapel together, build relationships with each other, and grow in their faith
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, understanding, and commitment to a reformed Christian educational worldview
-
Passion to work with a diverse student population from a Christian perspective
-
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement (MC, MX, or both MA and MB)

Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
