


GRCHS Student Custodial Worker
POSITION TITLE: GRCHS Student Custodial Worker
CAMPUS: Grand Rapids Christian High School
CONTRACT: Part-time, school-year, hourly, 5-12 hours per week (optional summer 32 hours per week)
HOURS:
- Age Under 16 - are able to work anytime between 3:00–7:00 p.m.
- Age 16 & 17 - are able to work anytime between 3:00–10:30 p.m.
After School Worker
- Monday-Friday, 1-1.5 hours after school or as otherwise required by job requirements
Cleanup Worker
- Monday-Thursday 3:00–10:30 p.m.
- Friday 3:00–11:30 p.m.
- Saturday/Sunday 7:00 a.m.–11:30 p.m.
- Students 16+ in a school activity are required to work 1 day per week during the Fall, Winter and Spring.
- Students 16+ not in a school activity are required to work a minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 days per week (a minimum of 5 hours per week)
REPORTS TO: High School Cleaning Supervisor
COORDINATES WITH: High School Facility Manager, High School Maintenance Supervisor, Full-time Custodians
POSITION SUMMARY
Working in cooperation with the high school custodial staff, the custodian will complete all assigned tasks in designated portions of the building and as requested. The Student Custodian will interact with students and staff in a positive, servant-like manner and with members of the community/guests of the building in order to assure high quality of services are delivered with a pleasant attitude.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to layout and organize work with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Ability to dust, mop, sweep, damp and wet mop, hard and resilient floors, and vacuum.
- Clean stairs, hallways, corridors, walls, outside steps, windows, window sill, ledges, bleachers, furniture, and other designated areas.
- Clean venetian blinds, radiators, grills, intake and exhaust vents, light fixtures and handrails.
- Clean restrooms, fixtures, mirrors, and replenish soap and paper goods.
- Collect trash/recycling and bring it out to the appropriate dumpster.
- Ability to set up and break down tables, chairs, equipment for scheduled events and meetings.
- Able to work well with other students and adults while completing custodial tasks.
- Views him or herself as a member of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 40-80 pounds and move equipment/furnishings to perform required tasks.
- Able to react to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
- Picking up trash/mess from bleachers/concourse/etc after events.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Demonstrates flexibility and ability to be on call if needed.
- Displays and maintains satisfactory work attendance.

- Demonstrates a working knowledge of maintaining equipment.
- Must be able to pick up, lift and dump receptacles/containers into dumpsters that are at a minimum of 4.5 feet above ground level.
- Knowledge of floor finishes (wood, terrazzo, soft and hard tile.)
- Knowledge of general safety and security practices as related to personal, facility, and equipment protection.
- Dresses appropriately while at work and upholds GRCS appearance standards.
