POSITION SUMMARY
Grand Rapids Christian Middle School is seeking a teacher for a new Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Gateway Design & Modeling course for seventh and eighth-grade students.
In this hands-on course, students discover the design process and develop an understanding of how creativity and innovation shape the world around them. Through sketching, modeling, collaboration, and problem-solving, students apply what they learn to a meaningful design challenge as they create a therapeutic toy for a child.
We are looking for a teacher who is curious, loves learning, and is excited to try something new. The ideal candidate does not need prior experience teaching PLTW. Grand Rapids Christian Schools will provide and pay for the PLTW training needed to prepare the teacher in both the curriculum and instructional methodology. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who enjoys guiding students through discovery, design thinking, and collaborative learning.
ESSENTIALS OF A GRCMS EDUCATOR

Teaches from a Christian perspective in alignment with the GRCS statement of faith

Grows in expertise of the content area and pedagogy through ongoing professional development

Collaborates with the professional learning team (PLT) to identify essential standards, create common assessments, and analyze assessment data to ensure that all students learn at a high level

Collaborate with support services to meet individual student needs

Create lesson plans that engage students in the learning process and that have clear learning objectives

Manages a classroom by providing clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices
-
Gives timely feedback to students and assigns timely grades that represent accurate levels of learning

Collaborates with the student life team, program coordinators, and administrators through the student referral system and other forms of communication

Communicates with parents regularly to share student celebrations and concerns

Helps students grow in their faith as they build relationships with each other.
