Evergreen Fall Enrichment Week

By Becky Breuker

This fall, GRCES Evergreen Campus students and teachers spent a week at Camp Roger learning about God’s world. Our Camp Roger adventure is one of Evergreen’s unique enrichment opportunities. Camp Roger’s Outdoor Education team led multi-age groups of students through various outdoor education activities, team challenges, and experiential learning projects.

I asked several Evergreen students to share their favorite experiences at Camp Roger. A few common responses were archery, roasting marshmallows, survival skills, canoeing, and water activities on the shores of Little Bostwick Lake.

Students were excited to learn and enjoy new experiences outside of their classrooms. They also had fun working with a variety of students in their Kindergarten-5th grade multi-age teams. “Olders” and “Youngers” worked together to complete team challenges and encouraged one another in individual activities.

Enrichment is an integral part of Evergreen’s unique approach to learning and comes in many forms throughout the school year. Our week at Camp Roger is just one enrichment opportunity for Evergreen students and teachers. We had a wonderful week outside, exploring God’s world together at Camp Roger.
