Staff Celebration Fridau Anna DeMoor

IT'S STAFF CELEBRATION FRIDAY!

Today we shine the spotlight on Iroquois Campus Spanish Immersion 1st Grade Teacher, Anna DeMoor.  Thank you for all that you do, Señora DeMoor!

NAME: Anna DeMoor
CAMPUS: Grand Rapids Christian Elementary School, Iroquois Campus
ROLE: 1st Grade Spanish Immersion Teacher

How long have you been working at GRCS?
This is my first year!

Give a brief overview of your family life, educational and/or career history.
I am married to Joel DeMoor who is a pastor at Neland Ave Christian Reformed Church.  We have 3 children: ages 6, 8, and 10.  I lived in British Columbia for over 8 years and moved back to GR in 2016.  I have previously taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades as well as ESL and homeschooling groups in Honduras, the west coast of Canada, and locally in Grand Rapids.

What is your favorite part of your job?
When first-graders light up because they can read and write so much better now!  I also love seeing how kind and helpful students can be to each other and cultivating a community where we care for each other.

Of all your time at GRCS, what special projects are you most proud of?
Well, since I've only been here one year, I would say surviving the first year! LOL

Anything silly or interesting you would like to share?
I love to dance! My passion is to use dance in worship at church. I also love salsa and swing.

Which Portrait of a Graduate characteristic do you relate to most within your role, and why? Or, which characteristic do you try and exemplify most and why?
I resonate with being a Lifelong Explorer. I think a joy-filled life is one living in discovery and wonder of God and his world.
