SCHOOL ABSENCES

You must report all student absences to the school before 8:00 am on the day they are absent.

You may do this by calling the Evergreen attendance line, 616.574.5990, or by emailing EV-Attendance@grcs.org.

When reporting your student's absence you must give your student's name, the date of absence, and the reason for absence. If your student is not feeling well you must report the symptoms or diagnosis. The Kent County Health Department requires health reporting for certain communicable diseases and contact tracing in the event of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

If your student has one of the following symptoms they are considered sick and should stay home from school:

  • Fever (100 or greater)
  • Chills
  • Shortness of Breath or difficulty breathing (not due to asthma or other chronic lung disease)
  • Nausea or Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Or, if your student has 2 or more of the following symptoms they are also considered sick and should stay home from school:

  • Cough
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Sore Throat

Please allow 24 hours after your student's symptoms have subsided without the aid of medication, before returning your student to school.

TARDIES

If your student will be late to school please leave a message on the attendance line (616.574.5990) or email EV-Attendance@grcs.org.

Please indicate if your student plans to get a school lunch or if they are bringing lunch from home. In addition, if your student is late they should enter through D and stop in at the school office for an admission slip.
