Cookies & Carols — December 10 at 6:30 pm

Cookies & Carols, the Evergreen Christmas celebration, will be brought to you virtually this year!  Please mark your calendars for this special evening on Thursday, December 10 at 6:30 pm.

We have the Carols covered:  You will experience virtual performances from Teams 1, 2, and 3 as well as some of Evergreen's most talented musicians.

We have the Cookies covered too:  Your family is asked to contribute to an Evergreen community Holiday Recipe Guide by submitting your favorite recipe.  Use this link to access a formatted google shared document and share your favorites with us.  The final Holiday Recipe Guide will be sent before our virtual event so that your family can print it out, bake a new recipe, and enjoy cookies from the guide during the event.  (If you cannot access the shared document, send your recipe to edavisevents@gmail.com for inclusion in Evergreen's Holiday Recipe Guide.)

Follett Book EFair

Many thanks to those who supported our online book fair!  Your books are expected to arrive from Follett any day now.  We will email you when they arrive; you can then collect them from the office when you pick up your child. We will leave them concealed in a paper bag in case they are intended to be a gift.

Hour of Code

This week is the annual Hour of Code! Hour of Code is an initiative to get 10's of millions of students, in 180+ other countries, in 45+ languages to do an hour of coding/programming! All of our K-5 students and teachers will participate in 1 hour of coding in their classrooms on laptops or iPads at some point this week. Coding teaches the kids to use computational logic that is becoming more and more important in every part of our society!

For more information, visit code.org or the Hour of Code page on Mr. McWhertor's website (www.mcwhertor.com). Feel free to reach out to Mrs. Bolt with any questions or concerns at jbolt@grcs.org.

Kent County COVID-19 Testing Sites 😷

Thank you to everyone for your positive attitude and teamwork to get the school year off to a good start! Parents are getting used to completing the health screening tool, and students and staff are acclimating to the new protocols at school.

The Kent County Health Department recently asked all area schools to share the following information about testing sites with their families. These are County sites, and their lab results are currently coming back in 48 – 72 hours. Other testing sites are also available and can be used.

For more information on testing sites or to register for a testing day, call 616.632.7200 or register online.

Please complete this sign-up form for your household by 9:00 am on Monday, December 14th (you only need to submit one form for both pick-up dates).

We know that many families in our community are facing financial hardships during the pandemic and hope that this helps support your family. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to serve!

Questions? If you have any questions, please contact Nancy at nmichaels@grcs.org

Free and Reduced Lunch Benefits

We encourage you to fill out a meal application if you feel you would qualify for free or reduced-price benefits.  We understand it has been confusing with free breakfast, lunches, and snacks for all.  For those of you that may have gotten the P-EBT cards this summer — grocery support for your children — USDA passed a second bill to reinstate the program in January for virtual learners.  One of the criteria to get the P-EBT card is an application.

If you have already filled out an application for 20-21, you are all set. Questions, email Jill at jzondag@grcs.org.

Eating School Snack & Lunch is cool and FREE!

The Pandemic Meal program has been extended through the end of the 2021 school year.  Preschoolers both 1/2 day and full day and their younger siblings may preorder for lunch on line.  All orders must be in by Monday at 8:00 for that week.

Part-Time Employment in Food Service?

We are always looking for fun, energetic staff to be part of the Food Service Team. Minimal experience needed- please email nmichaels@grcs.org for more information.
