Spring Food Drive for Baxter Community Center

Around Thanksgiving and Christmas people donate to food pantries such as Baxter because they are focused on food and celebrating.  After Christmas, the food pantries are often forgotten.  We want to help out our community by filling the Baxter Community Center food pantry once again! You can help us by bringing in non-perishable food until Thursday, April 1st!

Some possible items to donate are canned corn, carrots, beans, condiments, sugar, flour, vegetable oil, crackers, salad dressing, and much more!

Thank you for helping out!

March is National Reading Month!

The NEA has recently rebranded March as National Reading Month with a new theme — Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers.  At Evergreen we want to be all about that too!  We have all worked hard to become more culturally competent as teachers, students, and families.

It is also time to create some school unity and spirit.  Beginning this week, Evergreen will be joining in the fun with some National Reading month activities.  Our theme is “Reading is Freaky Fun!” and we will celebrate with Freaky Fun Fridays.  Here is the schedule:

  • Friday, March 26  — Team Day: wear a jersey of your favorite team or GRCS wear
  • Thursday, April 1 — Shades Day: wear your sunglasses to read

In addition to our Freaky Fun Fridays, we will have random DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) moments interspersed throughout March.  Also, teachers will be choosing books from diverse cultures and backgrounds to read to their students.

Be sure to ask your student how our reading celebrations are going!
