FLEX / Enrichment Week coming soon!

  • Evergreen's first Flex week is only two and half weeks away, September 20–24. Flex weeks are weeks off from school for families to spend time together or vacation.
  • Our second Flex week will be February 22–25, 2022.
  • During Flex weeks Evergreen does offer Enrichment opportunities to students in preschool and grades K–5th.
  • Preschool students will remain on campus and do special activities while this fall K–5th students will go to Camp Roger.
  • The deadline to sign up for Enrichment will be Monday, September 13. For more information and to sign up please see the flyer that was sent via email on Sept 2 or the hard copy that is coming home today.

Attendance

  • When a student is late or is absent from school, we ask that a parent/guardian contact the school office attendance line at 616.574.5990 or send an email to ev-attendance@grcs.org by 8:00 am.
  • It is OK to let the student(s) teacher know as well, but it is most important to contact the school office. Teachers are busy in the morning and aren't always able to check their emails at the start of the day.
  • If the student is not reported late or absent to the school office, calls will be made until we can be certain of the child's safety and well-being.
  • Students who arrive after the school day has started must report to the school office. To receive an admission pass, students must be excused by the parent (by calling in, a note, or email).

School Hours

  • The school offices are open from 7:30 am. to 3:30 pm on school days.
  • Student drop-off may begin at 7:45 am. This is to ensure that teachers have enough planning time in the morning before students arrive. Should you need your student to arrive earlier, please consider enrolling your student in Kids Care.
  • Likewise, students should be picked up by 3:15 pm. Students who are in the building past 3:15 pm. must be under the supervision of Kids Care after-school care.
  • Please make every effort to have your student picked up in a timely manner.

Peanut Free Campus 🥜

  • The Grand Rapids Christian Schools consistently have students who are diagnosed with severe and potentially life-threatening allergies to peanuts and sometimes other food products. As a Christian school community, we have a legal and ethical obligation to follow physicians' recommendations to safeguard their health. Therefore the Evergreen campus along with all Grand Rapids Christian Elementary Schools has been designated a peanut-free campus.
  • At Evergreen there are no other classroom-specific food restrictions on our campus at this point and time.
  • To read more about GRCS' Peanut-Free Policy please see the Health Section of the GRCS Handbook linked for you here.

Covid Awareness

  • Students should stay home from school if anyone in their household is waiting on Covid test results.
  • PLEASE keep the school office informed of absences, symptoms, and test results.
  • Thank you for keeping your kids home when they have cold-like symptoms!
