Cap and gown orders were distributed to students last month. If your student did not pick theirs up, please remind them to come to the office to get them.

Graduation is May 24 at Calvary Church at 8:00 pm. Graduation tickets and info were mailed to households. Each household received 6 tickets with details on how to request additional tickets if you need them.

Info about the Senior All Night Party was emailed to you. You can still sign up — we hope to see all our Seniors there! We also need chaperones!

We have a huge variety of music we are excited to present. Come hear classical, Motown, Barbershop, cultural, and gospel tunes to celebrate our fabulous year! We hope you can join us at 7:30pm at the DeVos Center for Arts and worship.

AP Testing

AP tests go through May 11. Late tests are being scheduled May 18-20 for students who qualify. If you have a student taking AP exams, please check your email for full details. It is important that students know their start times and what they should bring and not bring to the exam. If you have questions about this, contact Laura Rhodes (

2022 Native Plant Sale 🌱

This year we looked at the good of creating small patches of Native Plants that are loved by bees and butterflies and other pollinators. We humans seem to like sterile lawns. Perhaps we should spend some time thinking about what solitary bees find attractive and adjust our tastes accordingly. We purchased seeds recommended by the Xerces Society so we have what we are marketing as “Pollinator Pots.”  Basically a grab bag of good flowers (and a few grasses) for pollinators. More info about plants and pricing here. Contact Larry Borst with questions

Can you share $5 for a great cause?

A small gift can go a long way in Kenya! Will you help us support our school’s global mission partner: The Kakuma Refugee School? Would you consider donating $5 (or more) to support a Kenyan refugee school? We will partner with Isaiah Luk, an 11th grader, and his family ministry. Isaiah’s dad, Simon Luk, was a former resident at the camp and he has a passion to help students at the camp succeed in their academics. Your donation will help to purchase much-needed supplies for the school. Previous donations have helped purchase computers, desks, and books.

Let’s see what we can do to help this year! Thank you for considering a gift to support this ministry:

Covid Testing

We still offer voluntary Covid testing here at the high school. Please use this form to request a covid test: Covid Test Request

Please have your student arrive at school by 8:00 am (M/W/F) or 7:30 am (T/TH). Covid testing is done in the athletics office or the Quest Center Lobby, depending on demand. Students should report to the athletics office where they will be directed to the testing location. It is the responsibility of the student to come for a test.

Host Families Needed

We are delighted to be welcoming a number of students (from at least 10 countries) to GRCS next year. These young people are coming for 1 semester, 1 year, or, for some of them, multiple years, and each of them is excited to live with American families while at GRCS. Would your family consider this adventure in hospitality? And, if you have neighbors or friends who might want to open their homes in this way, please direct inquiries to Joelle Williams at or 616-574-5652. GRCS host families receive training, a generous stipend, and support throughout the school year.
