GRCHS Morning Announcements Friday, March 21

School Business

Message from Ms. Marble:

GRCHS is a Nicotine, Tobacco, and Drug-Free School.  At GRCHS, we are committed to creating a healthy, safe, and tobacco-free environment for all students. Using or possessing nicotine or tobacco in any form is strictly prohibited—this includes on campus, near school property, and at any school events.

🚫 This means NO:

  • Cigarettes, cigars, or chewing tobacco
  • Vapes, e-cigarettes, or any electronic nicotine devices
  • Hookahs, snus, dissolvable tobacco, or any new nicotine products

Our Expectation:

  • Do not bring, use, or possess any nicotine or tobacco products at school or school events.
  • Respect our policy—it’s in place for your health and the well-being of our school community.
  • Understand the consequences—violating this rule will result in disciplinary action.

We expect all students to make responsible choices and help maintain a nicotine-free school. Let’s work together to keep GRCHS a healthy place for everyone!

In light of that, you are able to sign up for a chapel of your choice, recognizing that there are multiple ways to worship God. Sign up for your chapel option using the Focus Time app for Wednesday, March 26 even though the chapel will be on Tuesday, March 25. TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO SIGN UP. If you don't sign up by the end of the day today, you will be assigned to a chapel option.  Reach out to Mr. VanderWerf if you have any questions.

🍃Biology Club

We have exciting news: Bio Club has planned a field trip to Meijer Gardens on April 21 from 12:45 PM to 2:45 PM. The butterflies should still be active as well! To participate in this field trip, you must attend at least one Bio Club meeting this semester. Priority will be given to those who have attended two or more times. Please remember, this trip means you will miss your 8th-hour class!

While not free, this trip will only cost you $6! However, there are only 30 spots available so fill out this form to sign up now! (Registration is not finalized until you pay Mr. Hoekstra.) Registration will close - and $$ will be due - on April 1.

AI Survey

The EdTech Consultants at the Kent Intermediate School District want to hear from YOU! They would like to hear your insights on how you, as a student, feel that AI should be used as a teaching and learning tool. Honesty with your responses is encouraged - there are no wrong answers!

Let's help them out by completing the Student AI Survey by March 26 - it only takes a few minutes! (Note that on question #1, GRCS is 3rd from the end in the list.)

Summer Session

At Grand Rapids Christian Schools, we believe a student’s learning and growth does not stop when second semester ends. Summer Session is an exciting way at Grand Rapids Christian High for students to participate in fun enrichment and immersion activities during the summer and earn high school credit. Incoming 9th – 12th grade students can participate in Courses, Workshops, College Prep Activities, and Drivers Training.

There are many great reasons to take a class during Summer Session:

  • For new students – get a taste of academics at Grand Rapids Christian High School. Make a few friends before high school starts!
  • Get ahead on graduation requirements.
  • Make room in your normal school-year schedule for electives and Advanced Placement classes.
  • Take unique offerings that aren’t offered during the school year.
  • Demonstrate to colleges that you invested in summer enrichment.
  • Prepare for college entrance exams and applications.

All summer offerings are posted online at our website: www.grcs.org/summer

Registration is open!

Students, these meetings allow you to learn more about these AP courses during scheduling and registration. Students are also required to attend AP interest meetings if they plan to take the course. Spring Backpacking Trips!

Spring is upon us, allergens might be everywhere, but we're thrilled to get on the trails and announce three exciting backpacking trips that promise breathtaking views, fresh air, and unforgettable memories:

  1. April 26-27 Nordhouse Dunes: A staple of the Adventure program, Nordhouse Dunes offers a beginner-friendly experience with beautiful views of lake Michigan and beach access. This is the perfect trip to shake off that Michigan winter rust, and get your toes in the sand.

  2. May 10-11 Manistee River Trail: An amazing hike along a river with incredible views? Yes, please! Manistee River Trail offers a longer hike for some of those go-getters that follows the Manistee River banks for 10+ miles. A great place to possibly test yourself and make some new friends.

  3. May 17-18 Fife Lake: Fife Lake is traditionally an advanced trip (20 miles), but is still open to anyone. Hiking through beautiful wilderness with views of rivers and lakes, this trip is enough to test even the experienced backpacker.

Whether you're a seasoned hiker or new to the trail, there's a trip for everyone! Spots are limited, so grab your gear (or borrow ours!) and join us for a springtime adventure you'll never forget. Sign-up on the Adventure Programs page!
