Winterim 2024 TRAVEL

The first step is to apply to travel and for financial aid. This is NOT for choosing a trip, but IS required for travel. Only students that complete this form will be sent trip selection forms. This form can also ONLY be completed using your student Gmail accounts, but you may choose to complete it with a parent or guardian: Application to Travel

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email Mr. Karsten or individual trip leaders. 

Be sure to check your email daily for important trip information including the Trip Selection Form. Be sure you are aware of the important Winterim trip dates and deadlines as listed below.

2024 Winterim Trip Timeline:
March 1 - Winterim trip Applications Due at 3pm
March 20 - Trip Selection Forms Due by 8am
March 29 - Winterim Enrollment Contracts (and Deposits) Due

Advanced Placement (AP) Interest Meetings

These meetings are required for students planning to take an AP course next year. These meetings allow students to learn more about your course during the time of course registration. Please sign up for these meetings on Focus.

*Those interested in AP Spanish, there will be no FT meeting due to classroom visits (4th year or SI classes) by Profe Allen. If you are not currently in 4th yr Spanish or SI and are interested in taking AP Spanish in the fall, please email mallen@grcs.org to find a time to chat before scheduling.

Special Olympics Polar Plunge Fundraiser 

The Unified Basketball Team and Eagle Activation Committee are raising money for the Special Olympics. 

Come out and support the Special Olympics by purchasing ice pops during morning break on Tuesday Feb 28th and Friday March 3. Ice Pops will be for sale for $1. 

Freshmen

Please join the counselors during your Freshman Skills/Tutoring Thursday and Friday, March 2-3, for the course registration presentation for sophomore year. Please bring your laptop.

If you do not have a Freshman Skills/Tutoring, please sign up for the Counseling Focus Time on Monday Mar 6th. 

Spring Play Auditions for The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

Are you interested in auditioning for our spring production? Please be aware that this is a small Blackbox production with a cast of six actors. Auditions will be held on Monday, February 27th & Tuesday, February 28th after school. For more information, please read over this audition packet and sign up for an audition slot. 

Blood Drive

Student Congress is hosting a blood drive for Versiti Blood Center on Friday, March 3. This year is the 10th anniversary of hosting the blood drive at Grand Rapids Christian. Let’s celebrate by having this the year where we donate the most units of blood. Sign-ups are available during break and lunch Monday through Thursday in lower town square, or use this link. To sign up you must be 16 years old with parental permission, or 17 and older. To support the blood drive, plan on wearing red to school on Friday.

Gospel Choir

Extra practice tomorrow (Tuesday 2/28) during Focus Time in the Choir Room. Regular practice on Wednesday (3/1) during Lunch and Office Hours in the Choir Room. This is all to prep for the BHM event Wednesday (3/1) evening at the middle school. Please come!

Chess Club

Chess club will meet after school today in the upper town square. Players of all skill levels are welcome!

Winterim Trip Meetings:

Florida

Coach Dixon will be holding an informational meeting on his Winterim 2024 Trip to IMG Academy and Disney in Florida, and would like to invite all interested students to this informational meeting!  The meeting will outline details of the trip, costs and tentative Itinerary of this exciting 2024 Trip. This meeting is open to all interested students and will take place in room 210 during Thursday’s Focus Time. For more information, reach out to Coach Dixon at ddixon@grcs.org

Australia

If you are interested in traveling to Australia for Winterim 2024, please sign up for a Focus Time in room 119 with Mr. Diekema and Mrs. Kits on Monday, February 27 to learn more. If you can't make it to the meeting, stop by room 205 (Diekema) or room 119 (Kits) to pick up an itinerary and get more information on the trip!

Kenya

Yesterday's Kenya Winterim Trip focus time will be rescheduled to Monday, 2/27. Sign up for Mrs. Camargo's focus time to learn more about the trip!
