Winterim 2022

Our Winterim semester starts up immediately after Christmas break and runs from January 3-14. It's an exciting two weeks of new courses, internships, travel, and more! When it comes to on-campus courses, we will have a late start each day.

Morning classes will run from 8:20-11:20

Afternoon classes will run from 11:50-2:50.

During Winterim we not only have many guests coming to our building (as instructors and speakers), but many students head out into the community (both Grand Rapids and beyond) as part of their semester. These experiences offer us an amazing opportunity to demonstrate our work towards being "Thoughtful Neighbors," and allow us the chance to practice hospitality, compassion, service and empathy for those around us. Let's remember this as we return back from Christmas break!

When you return from the holidays, you will find class assignments posted around Town Square and your teachers may have emailed you some first day reminders. If you have any questions about Winterim 2022, please don't hesitate to email Mr. Karsten (bkarsten@grcs.org).

Have a great final week of classes!

Angel Tree Toy Drive 🎄

This Christmas season, Grand Rapids Christian has the privilege of partnering with The Salvation Army to participate in the Angel Tree Toy Drive. This toy drive is a way that we can make this season a little brighter for kids in our community. On the Christmas tree in the town square, you can find tags that have information about the gift receivers, and you return a gift with that tag back to the Christmas tree. Gifts should be unwrapped.

All Toys are welcome but the greatest need is the following:

  • Toys for children age 9 - 12

  • Toys for children with sensory sensitivity (Autism, ADD, ADHD)

  • Toys/books in Spanish or bilingual

  • Gift cards for teens, primarily to stores like Meijer, Target, or Walmart. (Please bring gift cards to Ms. Petracek in room 232, do not drop them in the box).

Senior Signatures ✍🏾

A yearbook representative will be outside the office during lunch this week for seniors to get their signatures in the yearbook.

Student Custodial Workers Needed (Monday-Friday, after school)

Applicants should complete the online application form for support staff on the GRCS website. Applicants should also send a letter of interest, faith statement, and letters of reference to Jeremy Pyper (jpyper@grcs.org), Head Custodian, at Grand Rapids Christian High School.

Athletics

Boys Swimming & Diving 🏊🏽‍♂️

The boys swimming and diving team is looking for more members.  There are no limits on how many members our team is able to have, there are no tryouts. On Saturday, we have practice  December 11th from 10:00am-12:00pm where you can come to watch or give it a try (you must have a physical on file in the athletic office to participate).  We are looking for more swimmers, divers, and a team manager that would help with video/pictures/stats.  If you are interested, please contact coach Jeremy Pyper (jpyper@grcs.org) with any questions.
