Last Day of School

Our last day of school is Friday, June 2, with a noon dismissal. Buses will run as scheduled.

Have a fun and safe Summer, and we will see you back in August!

Medications in the Office

If your student takes a daily medication, or you brought in any medication this school year, please come to the office to pick it up no later than Friday, June 2. If the medication is not picked up by the last day of school, it will be properly disposed of the following week. If you have any questions, please send an email to Amanda in the office.

End-of-Year Technology Turn in

The end of the school is quickly approaching which means that it will soon be time for students to turn in their school-issued equipment.  Here are the turn-in dates and details for each grade level.

• 8th Grade – Mrs. VanderWoude sent an email to 8th graders with information regarding purchasing the iPad they have been using at school. If you missed that email, here is the information that was shared. 8th graders will turn in their iPads and chargers on Thursday, May 25.  
• 7th Grade – All equipment returned to school by Friday, May 26. This includes iPads, chargers, and the Logitech Crayons. Students will use, store and charge all equipment during the last week of school.
• 6th Grade – All equipment was due yesterday, Monday, May 22.  This includes both parts of the keyboard case, both the charging block and charging cord, and the Logitech crayon. Students will use, store and charge all equipment in school this week. 
• 5th Grade – All equipment returned on Friday, May 26.  This includes both parts of the keyboard case, both the charging block and charging cord, and the Logitech crayon.

Replacement Cost for Lost or Damaged Items

• Logitech Crayon replacement cost - $50
• Charging cord replacement cost - $19
• Charging block replacement cost - $19
• Both parts of the charger - $38
• 5th and 6th Grade keyboard from keyboard case - $90

Payment for these items can be made by sending a check or cash to school, calling the school office with a credit card payment, or having it added to your tuition account. Any payments not received for a lost or damaged item by June 5 will be added to the student tuition account. If you have any questions or concerns please email Jon Haaksma. Thank you so much for your help in getting all equipment turned in before the last day of school!

Host an International Student at Grand Rapids Christian Schools

We have several young men joining us in August who still need a GRCS host family. These young men (from Ukraine, South Korea, China, and Spain) are excited to experience life in West Michigan, living with an American family and attending classes at the high school. If you (or someone you know) are interested in other cultures, enjoy hospitality, and want to have an enduring impact on a young person's life then this could be a great opportunity for your family! Host families receive an annual stipend to cover costs and we provide orientation, training, and ongoing support throughout the school year. Technology Sale

Come to our GRCS technology sale on Friday, June 2 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Grand Rapids Christian High School in the All City Gym lobby (2300 Plymouth - Door 5)! This year we will be selling 13" MacBook Airs, iPads, Mac Mini desktops, and projectors. See the Tech Sales Flyer for details.

8th graders interested in Cross Country at GRCHS

There will be a cross country open house for those interested in running this Fall at GRCHS. You will meet at Coach Jager's house. Schedules, Summer plans, and information will be available. A light meal will also be provided. Hope to see you there!

Lost and Found

Please have your students look through the lost and found as the school year is coming to an end. Any items left after the last day of school will be donated to New2You.

Sports Physicals

Current 8th – 11th graders planning to play sports at Grand Rapids Christian High School in the 2023-24 school year need to have an MHSAA physical form on file with the high school athletic office before they are allowed to participate. A valid physical for 2023-24 must be completed.

You may turn in the completed physical to the GRCHS athletic office by mail or email as soon as you finish it, even if it is before the end of this school year or during the summer. You may print out a physical form here.

Girls Basketball Camp at Calvin University

Girls basketball camp is back! We have three day camp options and 1 middle school skills day camp starting in early June. Camp is open to all skill levels! More information and registration is found in the link here.

2022 – 2023 Yearbook

You are no longer able to order a yearbook online, as the ordering window has closed. The yearbooks are being processed and will be arriving in late May. If you were unable to order a book for your student, please contact Heidi Zylstra to put their name on a list. The cost is $40 and it will be on a first come basis. 

2023–2024 District Calendar

The 2023-2024 district school calendar is available on our website. Please refer to it as you make plans and appointments for the next school year.

General Health Awareness

• PLEASE keep the school office informed of any symptoms, illnesses, and test results that prevent your student from attending school. All absences need to be reported to the school office (msattendance@grcs.org, 616.574.6389)
• Thank you for keeping your kids home when they are sick. Children who have two or more cold-like symptoms, any child with a fever, and any child who vomits or has diarrhea should remain out of school for 24 hours after symptoms subside and without the use of medication.

ParentVUE

ParentVUE, our parent portal for our student information management system, gives you access to your child's schedule, grade book, attendance, and report cards. See the ParentVUE User Guide for more information.

Hot Lunch News and Updates

Hot Lunch Negative Balances

We need your help with collecting negative balances.  You can go to the Family Portal and sign in to your account. If you have not set up your child's account, you will need your student's ID number.  There is no fee to submit a payment with a credit card.  All positive balances carryover to the next school year.  If you have any questions please email Jill at jzondag@grcs.org.  Thank you for your attention in taking care of these negative balances, we appreciate it.  Thank you for participating in our hot lunch program–Have a great summer break!

PTO News  

Box Tops for Education

We continue to participate in the Box Tops program using the digital app. It is easy to participate! Simply download the free box tops app, select GRCMS, shop at your favorite grocery store, and scan your receipt. PTO receives support when you purchase participating products throughout the year. Please note: We no longer collect physical box tops; all box tops must be submitted via the app. Thank you!
