Evergreen Principal's Corner — January 11, 2022

Happy New Year, Evergreen families!

Last week, we welcomed back our wonderful students after a long Christmas break. A repeated thought passed through my brain while greeting students, strolling the halls, and spending time in each classroom: These students missed this. Their eager fist bumps, excited chatting with friends, and engagement with their teachers…it’s easy to tell that Evergreen students are happy to be back in the building (though, I must say, who could deny the joy of a snow day?).

On the heels of the past couple of years, it may be hard to vocalize high hopes for 2022. Witnessing these students’ return to school over the past handful of days, however, fills me with great expectations. And while I understand where my friends are coming from when they say something along the lines of, “Wow, what a rough time to work in the education field”, such a comment discredits the massive joy that accompanies witnessing students eager to be in school.

So at the onset of this year, I hope you’ll join me in praying for God’s blessing over these wonderful students. I pray that they will continue to grow in their love of learning, their desire to seek justice, and their ability to communicate and collaborate with their neighbors.

Peace to you all,

— Graham Schultze
