Evergreen Principal's Corner — January 5, 2021

Dear Evergreen Families,

Happy New Year!

God’s promise in Colossians 1:17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together gives us hope and anticipation for this new calendar year.

I started two lists in March 2020 when schools closed and our lives changed abruptly.

One list is titled Things I’m thankful for.

My thankful list is long and includes Evergreen families, students and staff as well as GRCS colleagues. In August I added in-person school to the list. I’m also thankful for the opportunity to continually learn, particularly through the GRCS Growing Deeper Series this year. I appreciated the presentations about Faith & Politics and Racial Justice this fall, and look forward to the presentation about Raising Youth in the Digital Age on January 27. I’ve had to add pages to my thankful list a couple of times since March.

My second list is titled Things I’m looking forward to.

Some of the items on this list include chapel in person with all students together. Recesses with students from all teams on the playground at the same time.  Staff meetings in person rather than on zoom. Evergreen families getting together for traditional events such as movie night and family picnics.

It’s great to reflect on things we are thankful for and to anticipate things that we look forward to. Through it all, we know that He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
