Give Thanks!

Next week is Thanksgiving, a time when we pause to focus on the many blessings that God has poured out in our lives. In a season when fear, anxiety, uncertainty, and exhaustion regularly creep into my life, I’ve been trying to “practice thanksgiving” more often. God has used my weakest moments to remind me of his goodness and to strengthen my faith. Here are just a few of the things that I am thankful for at school:

I’m so thankful for our students, who spread Christ’s love through their interactions with each other. Students’ kind words, smiles, and use of their gifts encourage me every day!

God has undoubtedly called us to be a place where not all of our parents agree on every issue, but I’m encouraged regularly by the prayers and support of our parents. Despite our differences, we come together at the foot of the cross and find our hope in Jesus.

As the principal and as a parent, I’m so grateful for our faculty and staff. They love Jesus, love students, and have a passion for the content they teach. Despite having very difficult jobs, they go out of their way to encourage me and the other members of our administrative team.

Philippians 4:4-7 says “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” My prayer for all of our students and GRCHS families is that as they rejoice and give thanks, they would experience a peace that can only come from time spent with the Lord. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
