Iroquois Principal's Corner — January 7, 2021

I have a challenge for you. In ONE word, describe 2020. I have no idea what word I would choose. The first few words that come time mind aren’t exactly positive. Maybe we shouldn’t be choosing one word at the end of the year, but one positive word at the BEGINNING of the year? Would we be more dedicated to carrying out that one word? I think I would! So, let me share some potential words with you, and take them with you if you’d like:

Joy, Unity, Love, Grit, Pray, Listen, Courage, Grace, Patience, Rest, Family, Learn.

What if our focus was not on what happens to us, but how we respond to situations? It seems like 2020 happened to us. It’s still early enough in 2021 to shape it, regardless of what comes our way. That’s exciting! It is our choice.

I picked pray as my word to focus on this year. I desire to invite God into all situations this year and think if I would have prayed more this past year things wouldn’t have been different, but talking to God provides peace and patience. The power of prayer is incomparable, and I know praying to God more will shape how I experience this upcoming year, even if it’s a tough one.

This year is a gift. What are you going to do with it? I pray God blesses each of us this year according to his will for us. Take care and God bless!
