Iroquois Principal's Corner — May 26, 2020

Dear Iroquois Parents and Friends,

I hope you are doing well today. This is our last week of school!

I want to share with you some dates and times that are important for you to know regarding the end of the school year. As you know, this is not a typical ending to a school year, so there is some important information for you that is new. We have referred to guidance by the Kent County Health Department and Michigan Department of Education for guidance during this pickup time.

Important Dates and Times:

Wednesday, May 27

  • Final day of instruction for K-4 students

Thursday, May 28

  • 5:00 pm — 7:00 pm
  • K-4 student material pick up at school

Friday, May 29

  • 9:00 am — 11:00 am
  • K-4 student material pick up at school

Important Details:

  • Similar to our first pick up, there will be labeled tables with the different grade levels where you can pick up your child’s materials. Please drive through or park. We will be extending the line of tables from the front of the building all the way to the track.
  • Please wear a mask when you come to pick up your child’s materials at school. School personnel will all be wearing masks.
  • Teachers will be collecting all of your child’s things inside the building. Entry to the building will not be permitted.
  • Please exercise social distancing (6ft. apart) when you are on campus.
  • If you are symptomatic, please do not come to campus during these pickup times.
  • We understand that seeing friends at this time is likely. Please do your best to keep moving through this process and connect with friends outside of this time.
  • We will have a library book drop off for you. Please return your child’s library books.
  • If you have a school iPad or device, please return it during those dates and times with all of the cables and chargers.
  • Please get in touch with your classroom teacher if you have any questions about what needs to be picked up or dropped off.

I am grateful for your flexibility during this unique ending to a school year. Stay tuned for details regarding the 20-21 school year. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll be happy to address them with you (jbarkel@grcs.org).

Have a blessed week!

John Barkel, Principal
