Rockford Principal's Corner — August 25, 2020

Dear Rockford Christian Families,

After months of planning, rounds of new regulations, and countless google docs, we are finally doing it — we are in school, in person!

I have been so grateful for your support and partnership. We wouldn’t be here without the committed families that make Rockford Christian such a special place. I would be remiss if I did not also thank our fantastic faculty and staff for their careful preparation and dedication. In particular, Mr. Bakker has gone above and beyond to ensure our school is clean and safe.

With close to 5 days of school now under our belts, I am also reminded of the privilege and responsibility of having students in our building. Grand Rapids Christian Schools has done everything we can to set up a safe and successful in-person learning experience. It has been such a joy to see kids on our campus again — both in classrooms and outdoors.

As we move forward, we pray that God continues to sustain us. We know that our plans will continue to change and evolve as we respond to current conditions and updated health and safety recommendations. We want to remain flexible and adaptive in order to provide the very best education possible for your children. To that end, we continue to improve our virtual learning experience.

Some families have chosen virtual learning as their preferred method of instruction, but every family has access to this option, should their child need to be home because of illness or quarantine. If your child needs to stay home because of symptoms, illness, or quarantine, we will automatically consider your child to be virtual until they are able to rejoin their peers. Whether in person or virtual, learning at Rockford Christian is rooted in relationships. We are so glad to be getting to know your children again. Here’s to a wonderful year!

In Him,

Ben Buursma
Principal
