Rockford Principal's Corner —December 7, 2021

Our theme this year, One Another has prompted us to explore the Bible and discover the many ways God calls us to live with one another.

During Family Time yesterday, the second grade highlighted Galatians 5:13 and how they have been answering the call to “serve one another humbly in love” by partnering with Kids; Food Basket. Students took a trip to the grocery store to buy needed food items with the funds they had raised from the sale of pumpkins from the RCS Pumpkin Patch. They then decorated bags and packed over 200 sack suppers that would benefit children in Kent County who are food insecure. The project is a wonderful example of service-learning in action.

Service Learning is an important way we live into our mission at Rockford Christian School. It provides opportunities for students to:

  • Demonstrate an attitude of humility, integrity, and grace.
  • Show respect for and sensitivity to others.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of God’s world and their place in it.
  • Positively engage with community organizations, serving as salt and light.
  • Practice action-oriented tasks that respond to real needs.

You are invited to join us in our efforts for the remainder of the month! Students are encouraged to bring some of the “Most Needed Items” for sack suppers to school: fruit cups or pouches, pudding cups, meat sticks, and 8lb lunch bags. You might even consider decorating the bags as a family as a tangible way of bringing joy to those in need.

Thank you for your continued support as we prepare effective servants of Christ!
