Lost and Found

Take a look at our virtual lost and found items that your student might be missing.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

“Teachers plant seeds that grow forever.”And our teachers & staff do just that on a daily basis! During the week of May 8-12, we will be celebrating our teachers and staff and showering them with gifts and cards of appreciation for all they have done during this school year! There will be special treats all week long—many of them provided by PTO funds and some items will be requested donations. Please look for a signup by the end of this week in the Facebook group.

In addition to these treats, each teacher & staff member will have a bag with their name on it for you and your child to write a personal note of appreciation or drop a little gift card for them in it! The gift bags will be set up in the front lobby Monday, May 8 through Thursday, May 11.
Thank you in advance for helping our teachers feel loved and appreciated!

Join us, Tuesday, May 9, 5:00 - 8:00 pm for the RCS Art Show!  The students are excited to be creating artwork that glows in the dark for our Art Show! 2023 Eagle Book Awards

Students are having a great time reading and discussing book pairings during library class together! All students K-6th grade have been given their Seesaw Home Code letter to allow them to access books at home and rate these books. By the beginning of May, all books will be posted on Seesaw for students to rate and review. Remember, some of these books are cute or funny and some make students really think and dig deeper. Eagle Books is a chance for your family to read together as we enjoy these 20 books published in 2022. This week in library class, we are reading two books to connect with Earth Day. These books remind us how important it is to be a steward of the Earth that God has given us.

Happy reading, and stay student to the home bulletin for more updates! Email Mrs. DenOuden with any questions.

A Note From Outdoor Education

As winter has now given way to spring, some warranted concern has arisen regarding the discovery of ticks. Being a nature-rich school, we are outside quite a bit and we have had three reports of ticks being found on students. While this is unsettling, I suggest we not allow this to curtail all outdoor experiences for our children. Instead, allow me to offer some background and suggestions:

  1. Be vigilant. At the end of each OE time, we ask students to check themselves without creating a sense of hysteria.
  2. Be prepared. If your child has OE on a certain day, that might be a good day for close-toed shoes, socks and long pants.
  3. Be educated. Michigan has 20 different species of ticks and only one of the five most prevalent carry Lyme disease. Also, recognize that ticks can get carried in from the indoors by your pants, so check them periodically. For more information, visit the article: MDHHS educates Michigan residents about how to stay healthy this tick season.
  4. Be calm. Poison ivy, West Nile Virus, snakes, mosquitoes, ticks, stinging insects, and other pests are around. Do your best not to overreact. In doing so, you may pass a fear of the outdoors to your child.

On an unrelated note, you are welcome to try out one of our two frisbee golf courses at Rockford Christian School! Our JV Course has been on the east side of School for a few years, but our new Varsity Course, complete with baskets and chains, has been a dream of ours for a while. The 7th grade adopted this idea as their own this year, and just last week, it was completed! Thanks to Mr. Christians, the 7th Grade, and the PTO for all of the hard work and support in this big project! Scorecards and course maps are available from the OE Department.

It's Auction time! Mark your calendar now and plan to attend the RCS “Race for the Roses” Auction on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to benefit the Christ-centered and nature-rich education at RCS. This money will be used to enhance outdoor learning spaces, create a nature-based early childhood playscape, and fund new outdoor recreation experiences for our middle school students.

Please consider sponsoring our auction or donating an item/service. Please contact Allison Breuker with any auction-related questions.

RCS TRIP Office

The TRIP Office is available on Tuesday mornings in the RCS Office!

New to TRIP? TRIP allows you to reduce the cost of tuition by purchasing gift cards and gift certificates for things you buy every day from hundreds of national and local vendors.

How does TRIP work? When you purchase gift cards at face value, a percentage of your purchase is credited to your TRIP account. Two times per year (November 1 and May 1), the accumulated TRIP credits are applied as payment to your tuition account, or donated to the tuition account you have designated.

Parents in Prayer

We have a unique opportunity to gather as moms, dads, and grandparents to pray for our school — little siblings are welcome too!

Parents In Prayer will be meeting on Wednesday mornings after drop-off. We will again be meeting outside and walking around the campus. We will follow the guidelines given by the Moms in Prayer organization. You can find the resources that we will use here.

We look forward to having many parents join us this year!
