Meet Chex!

Chex is in need of gently loved stuffed animals for his friends at the Humane Society of Kent County. He is currently kenneled here at Rockford Christian by the office. If you would like to help and have an extra stuffed animal, please do a good deed and help a pup in need!

Congratulations to all who took part in the inaugural “Unusual Sports and Games” class during iXplore Week. A special congratulations to our medal winners for the week:

Parents, please remember to send:

Family Time

At Rockford Christian, we start each week with Family Time. Although we cannot yet gather in person as a whole community, we do not want to miss out on this important time of worship. You are invited to join us each Monday from 8:45 am — 9:00 am over Zoom.

Please use this link and be sure to turn off your camera and microphone when you arrive. Thanks!

Outdoor Education News

New trees have been planted. The apiary boxes are here. Some meadow areas are being restored. Our theme this month will be “Michigan’s Invaders - A Look at Invasive Species.” This quiet problem is seeping into our native prairies, woodlands, and wetlands. We are excited to learn more about different species and then begin the job of restoring areas of our campus! Please also remember our Pop Can and Spare Change Challenge will benefit Homes Giving Hope.

Moms, Dads, Grandparents in Prayer

We will meet outdoors, wearing masks, walking, and praying in groups of 2-3.

Here is a link to the mobile prayer sheets. You can use the listed link to pray for your children anytime: momsinprayer.org/group-leaders.

Recess Volunteers

Volunteers are needed daily to supervise children on the playground. Afternoon recess takes place from 12:20 pm — 12:55 pm (elementary until 12:40 pm and then continues to cover middle school until 12:55 pm).

Please consider volunteering as you are able. Kids LOVE seeing loved ones during recess. You can sign up by clicking on Sign-Up Genius.

RCS Athletics

RCS After School Clinics with Basics Basketball

We are partnering with Basics Basketball to provide a series of after-school basketball clinics for elementary students. Students who register will be able to participate in 3 training sessions occurring immediately after school, from 3:30 pm to 4:40 pm. There are still openings left in the 3rd-5th grade section. Click here to register.

All sessions will be led by Coach Jim McGannon, former Dartmouth College player and Basics founder.

Sports Physicals

Current 8th-11th graders planning to play sports at Grand Rapids Christian High School in the 2021-2022 school year need to have an MHSAA physical form on file with the high school athletic office before they are allowed to participate. A valid physical for 2021-22 must be completed any time after April 15, 2021.

You may turn in the completed physical to the GRCHS athletic office by mail or email (to cgroendyk@grcs.org) as soon as you finish it, even if it is before the end of this school year or during the summer. You may print out a physical form here.

This form must be completed with all signatures in order to participate in sports at GRCHS. You may attach your doctor’s office physical form for the doctor portion of this form but the parent portion and all signatures need to be completed on this form.
