Prayer for Mrs. Schuurman

Our Third-Grade Teacher, Mrs. Carina Schuurman, was recently diagnosed with a relatively rare and later-stage lymphoma, as well as some liver and auto-immune complications. Carina has been admitted to the ICU and has a difficult journey ahead as she and her medical team work to find an effective chemo treatment to fight the aggressive lymphoma in her body. As an RCS Community, we are making it a priority to lift Carina, the Schuurman family, and her medical team up in prayer over the coming weeks. Join us for prayer:

  • Friday, March 24, 2:45-3:10 pm, in the Worship Center
  • Monday, March 27, 8:00-8:15 am, in the Music Room

A Note From Outdoor Education

Yesterday, our seventh–grade class reminded us of the importance of "sacrifice." They cited examples from God's word, but then also discussed how this should play out in our lives. It seems fitting to also think about how to exercise this concept when thinking about outdoor education and the lessons we are hoping to instill in our students. Are there ways to sacrifice convenience and comfort so that we can teach our children more self-reliance? How can we purchase food so we produce less waste? Can we opt for composting at home even if it is a bit messy and when it is easier to just throw old produce in the trash can? Should we consider sacrificing screen time so that we take a family hike around Pickerel Lake? What are ways that we can sacrifice to point our children toward a better way of living? I know, these are the musings of an old man, but still something worth considering.

Pop Can and Spare Change Project this month: we are collecting for David's House Ministries and have gathered $160.96 so far. Thank you! If you wish to sacrifice your returnable cans and bottles, you may leave them by Mr. Phil's room.

RCS PTO News

Our next PTO meeting will be on Thursday, March 23rd at 6:30 pm in the RCS Learning Commons. Please contact Lindsey Toth if you are interested in joining or have questions about serving.

It's Auction time! Mark your calendar now and plan to attend the RCS “Race for the Roses” Auction on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to benefit the Christ-centered and nature-rich education at RCS. This money will be used to enhance outdoor learning spaces, create a nature-based early childhood playscape, and fund new outdoor recreation experiences for our middle school students.

Please consider sponsoring our auction or donating an item/service. Please contact Allison Breuker with any auction-related questions.

PTO Auction: Race for the Roses

Join us on April 29 for the PTO Auction. More details coming soon!

RCS TRIP Office

The TRIP Office is available on Tuesday mornings in the RCS Office!

New to TRIP? TRIP allows you to reduce the cost of tuition by purchasing gift cards and gift certificates for things you buy every day from hundreds of national and local vendors.

How does TRIP work? When you purchase gift cards at face value, a percentage of your purchase is credited to your TRIP account. Two times per year (November 1 and May 1), the accumulated TRIP credits are applied as payment to your tuition account, or donated to the tuition account you have designated.

Parents in Prayer

We have a unique opportunity to gather as moms, dads, and grandparents to pray for our school — little siblings are welcome too!

Parents In Prayer will be meeting on Wednesday mornings after drop-off. We will again be meeting outside and walking around the campus. We will follow the guidelines given by the Moms in Prayer organization. You can find the resources that we will use here.

We look forward to having many parents join us this year!
