REMINDER — Wednesday, March 17, 2021: No school for K — 8th-grade students
Please send a water bottle to school!
Parents, please remember to send water to school with your student each day. The drinking fountains at school are turned off for your student's safety. The water bottle fillers are in operation. This means we need you to send water bottles from home. Students need to drink lots of water — especially after outdoor ed, gym class and break. Thank you!
Face Coverings
The number of students forgetting face coverings has been increasing lately. Please remember to send your student with a face covering, and an extra in the backpack would be great!
Getting Ready for the Digital Art Show
Parents, you may have received an email recently with the subject line: ________'s art teacher wants your child to join Artsonia. Please click "give permission" to allow for Mrs. Yeates to upload your student's masterpieces for the art show. More information to follow!

Outdoor Education News
In his poem “Two Tramps in Mud Time,” Robert Frost implied that there are not just four seasons, but five. The fifth occurs between winter and spring when the weather just does not know what to do. While we cannot put the snow pants away just yet, neither can we plant seeds in our gardens. Welcome to Mud Time.
Congratulations to Dallas Seavey, winner of the 2021 Iditarod! Cheering him on to win were Ryan Buursma, Kaitlin Hollebeek, and Logan Christophel, who each selected bib number 23 to win The Last Great Race. Congratulations to all!
Virtual Learning Reminder
Virtual learning is for COVID-related absences only. Parents MUST contact the school office with a 24-hour notice when requesting to move to Virtual Learning and so that students are properly accounted for in case of an emergency.
Moms, Dads, Grandparents in Prayer
We will meet outdoors, wearing masks, walking, and praying in groups of 2-3.

Recess Volunteers
Volunteers are needed daily to supervise children on the playground. Afternoon recess takes place from 12:20 pm — 12:55 pm (elementary until 12:40 pm and then continues to cover middle school until 12:55 pm).
Please consider volunteering as you are able. Kids LOVE seeing loved ones during recess. You can sign up by clicking on Sign-Up Genius.

Computers for Sale
GRCS has computers available for sale! Available now are Mac Mini desktops and 11.6" MacBook Airs (2013 model). If interested, view the specs, reserve one today using this reservation form, and pick it up tomorrow. In May, more details will be available on our technology community sale that will occur on June 1 with lots of devices for sale.

For quick access to the staff directory, select Contact at grcs.org. To access the student and parent directories on the grcs.org Parent Portal, select Parents > Parent Portal and log in to your Parent Portal account.
Not sure how to login to your Parent Portal account? Go to the GRCS Tech YouTube channel to learn how to access the directories.

Food Service News
Free Meals and Snacks
Free meals and snacks will continue in January through the end of the school year. Enjoy!
Preschoolers, both half-day and full-day, and their younger siblings may pre-order lunch online. All orders must be placed by Monday at 8:00 am
Food Service Workers
Grand Rapids Christian Food Service is looking for fun and energetic part-time staff. These positions are at the GRCHS and Rockford Christian Schools. Hours are 8:30 am — 1:00 pm. Work involves standing for long periods of time, fast-paced, and some lifting. Limited experience needed, must enjoy working with students and a heart to serve.

Meal Pick-Up and Weekly Meals for Virtual Learners
Realizing some of our students are missing out on FREE meals in school, we have provided curbside pick-up for those students who choose to learn virtually. This will be a weekly form you need to complete each week by 9:00 am on that Monday. If you have any questions, please email Jill at jzondag.org.

Free and Reduced Lunch Benefits
We encourage you to fill out a meal application if you feel you would qualify for Free and Reduced meals. For those of you that received a P-EBT card this past summer — a debit card that offers grocery dollars for each child. USDA passed a second bill to reinstate the program in January for virtual learners. One of the criteria to qualify is to have an application filled out.

Athletics + Youth Sports
GRC Youth Sports and Recreation Programs
Did you know GRC has its own Recreation Department? We offer sports programs for GRCS students and students from the surrounding area. For a complete look at what we have to offer, go to www.grcs.org/youthsports.
Our programs will follow the same Health and Safety Protocols as we are following at school. Masks for coaches, hand sanitizer for players, disinfectants for equipment, and social distancing will all be observed.

Basketball Skills Training at RCS
Rockford Christian School will host basketball skills and private training in our gym every Saturday and Sunday through Basics Basketball. Founded in 2006, Basics has over 100 program graduates at the college level. Additionally, we will be hosting spring teams here with no travel. RCS students get 50% off all training and team fees.
