Thoughts and Prayers

Our thoughts and prayers go to the Hughes family (Owen/K). Owen's father, Andy, passed away last week Thursday due to complications from a brain tumor. Please lift this family up in prayer.

Field Day — Friday, May 21

What is the best way to end the last Friday of school? FIELD DAY! Field Day will be Friday, May 21 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm for elementary students in kindergarten through 4th grade. The event will be held outdoors with lots of fun activities including a few stations where they might get wet – dress for fun!

If you are interested in volunteering for the event, please contact Kelly Lovell – Kelly.lovell@vaegr.com. We encourage all parents and younger siblings to come out for an afternoon of fun and cheer on our kids as they make their way through the field day stations!

No After Care on Thursday, May 27

Due to dismissal at 11:30 a.m., After Care will not be available on Thursday, May 27.

Lost and Found

After May 27, we will keep items for one week after which any remaining items will be donated to New 2 You.

Family Time

At Rockford Christian, we start each week with Family Time. Although we cannot yet gather in person as a whole community, we do not want to miss out on this important time of worship. You are invited to join us each Monday from 8:45 am — 9:00 am over Zoom.

Please use this link and be sure to turn off your camera and microphone when you arrive. Thanks!

Outdoor Education News

We have a very busy week in the world of Outdoor Education.

To begin with, please pray for our various middle school class trips this week

  • The fifth grade will be at Camp Roger
  • The sixth grade will visit Sleeping Bear Dunes for three days
  • The seventh grade will be found at Ludington State Park
  • The eighth grade will make their annual trip to the Mackinac area.

Pray for safety, good weather, breakdown-free vehicles, and no matter where we go that we represent Jesus to both each other and any people who may cross our paths.

This month we have topped $100 in our Pop Can and Spare Change Fund for Homes Giving Hope. Please keep those donations flowing!

Moms, Dads, Grandparents in Prayer

We will meet outdoors, wearing masks, walking, and praying in groups of 2-3.

Here is a link to the mobile prayer sheets. You can use the listed link to pray for your children anytime: momsinprayer.org/group-leaders.

Recess Volunteers

Volunteers are needed daily to supervise children on the playground. Afternoon recess takes place from 12:20 pm — 12:55 pm (elementary until 12:40 pm and then continues to cover middle school until 12:55 pm).

Please consider volunteering as you are able. Kids LOVE seeing loved ones during recess. You can sign up by clicking on Sign-Up Genius.

RCS Athletics

Current 8th-11th graders planning to play sports at Grand Rapids Christian High School in the 2021-2022 school year need to have an MHSAA physical form on file with the high school athletic office before they are allowed to participate. A valid physical for 2021-22 must be completed any time after April 15, 2021.

You may turn in the completed physical to the GRCHS athletic office by mail or email (to cgroendyk@grcs.org) as soon as you finish it, even if it is before the end of this school year or during the summer. You may print out a physical form here.

This form must be completed with all signatures in order to participate in sports at GRCHS. You may attach your doctor’s office physical form for the doctor portion of this form but the parent portion and all signatures need to be completed on this form.
