“Can’t mask AWESOME!”
And we think our teachers & staff are awesome indeed! Next week, May 10 — 14, we will be celebrating our teachers and staff and showering them with gifts and cards of appreciation for all they have done during this school year! There will be special treats all week long—many of them provided by PTO funds and some items will be requested donations. Click here to see how you can help out!
In addition to these treats, each teacher & staff member will have a bag with their name on it for you and your child to write a personal note of appreciation or drop a little gift card for them in it! The gift bags will be set up in the office starting tomorrow through Thursday, May 13.
Thank you in advance for helping our teachers feel loved and appreciated!

2021 RCS Digital Art Show!
By the end of this week, all art will be posted online for the art show! If you haven't already signed up for the Artsonia website, be sure to check it out: artsonia.com, school access code YPTB-HWDN (or better yet, click the link in your email to be directly connected to your student).
Each student will have at least 2 lovely pieces of art on the website, however, if he/she won "best of project" anytime throughout the year, there will be additional pieces.
Artsonia is a great website because it allows you to comment on their artwork and even purchase gifts with the art printed on them! Do you have grandparents who live out of state? Purchase some postcards of your child's art and mail them as a surprise! Better yet, give the grandparents the login information and let them check out the art and gifts themselves!
Mrs. Yeates is very excited to celebrate the student's art with you!
RCS welcomes Mrs. Ashley Howe!
We are excited to welcome Ashley Howe and her family to Rockford Christian School. Ashley will be serving as our Executive Secretary and brings with her a wealth of experience, most recently from her work at Christian Schools International. Be sure to give her a warm RCS welcome when you see her in the office! Mrs. Howe will begin training with Mrs. Radius on May 12.
Rock and Soul Success
Thank you to everyone who came out to support Rockford Christian at this past weekend's Rock and Soul event! It was wonderful to see so many people connecting with one another. We exceeded our fundraising goals and look forward to investing the $35,000 raised in outdoor learning resources for our students. None of this would be possible without the countless hours from our parent volunteers and staff, and the generous support of our event sponsors. Thank you!
Second Grade Needs Your Help!
The second graders are collecting recycled cartons for a special upcoming project! If you have any 1/2 gallon cartons of milk or orange juice, would you please consider sending them into the second-grade classroom? THANK YOU!
Parents, please remember to send:
- A water bottle
- Face coverings (an extra or two is great)
Lost and Found
Look for the coatrack outside at pick-up time on Fridays. After May 27, we will keep items for one week after which they will be donated to New 2 You.
At Rockford Christian, we start each week with Family Time. Although we cannot yet gather in person as a whole community, we do not want to miss out on this important time of worship. You are invited to join us each Monday from 8:45 am — 9:00 am over Zoom.
Please use this link and be sure to turn off your camera and microphone when you arrive. Thanks!
Outdoor Education News
How does a plant or animal earn the label “invasive species?” Ask your student! I sure hope they now know as we continue this month-long theme. Some of our students have been digging, cutting, and trying to eliminate different types of invaders from our woods. Near the gym we have our “Most Wanted” wall with posters and pictures to help us all understand a bit more about this growing problem.
Our Pop Can and Spare Change collection is for Homes Giving Hope. Please continue to support our efforts as we do our best to bless this ministry. We have raised almost $90 so far, but let’s keep it going!
Moms, Dads, Grandparents in Prayer
We will meet outdoors, wearing masks, walking, and praying in groups of 2-3.
Here is a link to the mobile prayer sheets. You can use the listed link to pray for your children anytime: momsinprayer.org/group-leaders.
Volunteers are needed daily to supervise children on the playground. Afternoon recess takes place from 12:20 pm — 12:55 pm (elementary until 12:40 pm and then continues to cover middle school until 12:55 pm).
Please consider volunteering as you are able. Kids LOVE seeing loved ones during recess. You can sign up by clicking on Sign-Up Genius.
Current 8th-11th graders planning to play sports at Grand Rapids Christian High School in the 2021-2022 school year need to have an MHSAA physical form on file with the high school athletic office before they are allowed to participate. A valid physical for 2021-22 must be completed any time after April 15, 2021.
You may turn in the completed physical to the GRCHS athletic office by mail or email (to email@example.com) as soon as you finish it, even if it is before the end of this school year or during the summer. You may print out a physical form here.
This form must be completed with all signatures in order to participate in sports at GRCHS. You may attach your doctor’s office physical form for the doctor portion of this form but the parent portion and all signatures need to be completed on this form.
