👀 Save the Date - Protect Young Eyes at RCS
Rockford Christian is providing an educational evening for parents on Thursday, January 11, at 6:30 p.m. This evening focuses on How to Create a Tech-Ready home. We are excited to share this resource with our parents. Watch for more details.
😷 Health Awareness
PLEASE keep the school office informed of any symptoms, illnesses, and test results that prevent your student from attending school. Please report all absences to your child's teacher and the school office (kbuursma@grcs.org).
Thank you for keeping your kids home when they are sick. Children who have two or more cold-like symptoms, any child with a fever, and any child who vomits or has diarrhea should remain out of school for 24 hours after symptoms subside and without the use of medication.
💻 Hour of Code
This week is the annual Hour of Code! Hour of Code is an initiative to get 10's of millions of students in 180+ other countries, in 45+ languages, to do an hour of coding/programming! All of our K-4 students and teachers will participate in one hour of coding on iPads in their classrooms at some point this week. Coding teaches students to be creative solution-finders and use computational logic, which is becoming more and more important in every part of our society! For more information about this initiative, visit code.org. Feel free to reach out to Mrs. DenOuden with any questions or concerns at jdenouden@grcs.org.
🙏 Parents and Grandparents in Prayer
Parents and Grandparents in Prayer meet on Wednesday mornings in the school parking lot at 8:45 after drop-off. We typically walk around the campus as we pray. Little siblings are welcome to join us. We follow the guidelines outlined by Moms in Prayer International. Here is a link to the Moms in Prayer resource.

We are always looking for parents to step in and help with recess duty at lunchtime. 12:20 pm to 1 pm. This is a great chance to be on campus and enjoy watching our students interact! Sign up here to join us for recess duty at Rockford Christian.

🌲 A Note from Outdoor Education
Blessed Advent to you all! As 2023 comes to a close, I am so thankful that RCS has taken on the “nature-rich” theme and that Outdoor Education can be a part of that effort. Training our children to love and care for God’s world can become lost if we don’t expose them to the wonders and the responsibilities of creation. Let’s keep going in 2024!
Thank you for supporting our fundraising efforts for Mel Trotter Ministries this month! Our project stands at $207.10, raised through pop cans and fire starters. We will continue to collect through December.
The OE Department would also like to add more cardboard egg cartons and old candles and wax to our fire starter project. Please save such items and have your child drop them off at Room 134. Thank you!
RCS PTO News
Our next PTO meeting will be on January 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Learning Commons. Any questions, contact Lindsey Toth.
RCS TRIP Office
The TRIP Office is available Tuesday mornings in the RCS Office from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
New to TRIP? TRIP allows you to reduce the cost of tuition by purchasing gift cards and gift certificates for things you buy every day from hundreds of national and local vendors.
How does TRIP work? When you purchase gift cards at face value, a percentage of your purchase is credited to your TRIP account. Two times per year (November 1 and May 1), the accumulated TRIP credits are applied as payment to your tuition account, or donated to the tuition account you have designated.
