Rockford Campus News

We did it!

We did it EAGLES! We hit our goal for the Raise Craze and had the most successful fall fundraiser to date! We raised over $35,000!! Thank you for the love and generosity you showered on the kids and our school! We celebrated last week Friday between the rain showers with a wonderful Harvest Hustle. Thank you to all who helped make this a wonderful blessing for our school community.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held this week Thursday, October 14, and next week Tuesday, October 19. Please contact your child's teacher if you have not received confirmation of your scheduled conference.

How You Can Help Us

Face masks are part of our daily routine at RCS. Frequently they are being forgotten, dropped on the playground, or somehow are just becoming no longer usable (need we go into the details?).

We are going through a large quantity of face masks on a daily basis and need your help. On your next visit to Meijers, Sam's Club, or Costco, could you please purchase a box or two of disposable adult face masks and drop them off at the school office?

Please feel free to contact the office with any questions.

School Picture Retakes

Picture retakes are scheduled for Monday, November 22.

Yearbook News

Order yours today! The yearbook price is now $22 and later in the school year it will go to $25. Staff members will receive a free yearbook. If you are ordering more than one, it is full price for the first and then $10 for each additional book. Click here to order.

8th Grade Portraits: It is RCS tradition for graduating 8th-grade students to have a portrait taken outside of school to include in the yearbook. This is often done by professional photographers or parents at home. Though this is not at all required, if you wish to send in a photograph, please do so by January 10th. If no portrait is sent, the one taken at school will be used in the yearbook. Images can be sent to Mrs. Yeates at jyeates@grcs.org and should be in jpeg format, as large as possible.

Business Advertisements: Do you own or run a business that you would like to promote in the Yearbook advertisement section? Ad prices run from $35-$200. Email Mrs. Yeates for more information! jyeates@grcs.org.

Box Tops for Education

Help us earn money for RCS with Box Tops for Education. No more clipping! All you need is your phone! Download the Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then use the app to scan your store receipt within 14 days of purchase. The app will identify Box Tops products on your receipt and automatically credit your school’s earnings online. Twice a year, our school will receive a check and can use that cash to buy whatever it needs!

Book Fair

Our book fair is scheduled for October 13 through October 19 (Please note the edited end date!). Please mark your calendars and be sure to stop by during the day or during parent-teacher conference times. You may also shop online starting on October 8. Your child(ren) will also have an opportunity to shop during their library time (see below). We encourage you to set up your eWallet for a perfect and easy way for your child(ren) to shop without having to worry about cash! More information, including flyers and e-wallet information, will be coming home with your child(ren) this week.

Parents in Prayer

We have a unique opportunity to gather as moms, dads, and grandparents to pray for our school — little siblings are welcome too!

Parents In Prayer will be meeting on Thursday mornings after drop-off. We will again be meeting outside and walking around the campus. We will follow the guidelines given by the Moms in Prayer organization. You can find the resources that we will use here.

We look forward to having many parents join us this year!

Strong and Courageous – A School Partnership in Honduras

Last year, our school began a partnership with Jubilee Centers International School in Honduras. Some of our Spanish Immersion classes at the elementary (Iroquois) and middle school shared videos, became penpals, and communicated via zoom through this partnership.

As we continue to partner with Jubilee Centers International we would love to invite you to their Virtual Celebration Event: Strong & Courageous on Tuesday, October 26 at 8:00 pm. You can join the event from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection and a screen. Once you register, the link will be emailed to you. Registration is very quick and easy, here is the registration link: jubileehn.org/2021event. Click on "Click Here to RSVP" once in the link.

A Note From Outdoor Ed

Now that October is upon us, we have a new Pop Can and Spare Change project! We will be collecting money and cans for Alpha Grand Rapids Christmas Toy Drive! While we will collect the money, our eighth-grade class will take what we have and do some shopping so that children who might otherwise not receive a Christmas gift will get one. Please join us in this cause! For more information about this great local organization, check out: https://alphagrandrapids.org

For those who are currently enrolled in Kids Care, here are some reminders:

  • Kids Care will be taking place in Room 101, which is located in the first room in the elementary wing
  • Before Care: The front doors will unlock at 7:15 am. We ask parents to walk their children into the building.
  • After Care: For pick up, we also ask you to park and go into Room 101. Often in the afternoon, the students will be outside. If so, there will be a note explaining where they are exploring/playing.
  • Snacks are not provided during Before, and After Care, so you may want to pack an extra snack for your student.
