Rockford Campus News

Harvest Hustle Thank You!

Our first-ever "Harvest Hustle" proved to be a wonderful event for the whole school community. Thank you to all the volunteers, parents, and teachers who helped make it happen. Thank you as well to the many people who helped us raise over $30,000 to benefit Christian Education at RCS. We are grateful for God's faithfulness!

Request

Rockford Christian students and staff need boxes of Kleenexes. If you are able, please consider donating this much-needed item. Donations can be dropped off at the front office.

Contacting Staff

Staff members are not able to monitor their email or answer phone calls during the school day. Parents wishing to send a message about an early pick-up due to an appointment or change to end of day plans should either call the office at 616.574.6400 or email the office at kradius@grcs.org. The office will make sure the message is communicated in a timely manner.

Family Vacations and Student Work

Teachers at Rockford Christian diligently plan for each and every day of school. Full attendance helps ensure your child is able to make the most of your investment in Christian Education. Should your child have to miss school for a non-illness related absence, such as a family vacation, teachers are not able to prepare work in advance for your child's time out of school.

Middle School Artists

Grand Rapids Christian School Superintendent, Mr. DeJonge, would like student help designing Christmas card covers to be sent to donors around the city. Submit your design to Mrs. Yeates by October 27. All quality submissions will receive 10 points extra credit. All submissions should be neat and nice, Christian Christmas themed, and have Grand Rapids Christian Schools 2020 written in small font somewhere on the front of the card design. Names should be written on the back. Any art medium may be used to create it.

Health Screen Reminder

The COVID Health Screen form must be completed each day, even if your students are not in school that day. A link to this form is texted to all cell phone numbers on your student's record each morning and must be completed by 8:30 am.

If your student comes to school and the health check has not been performed, they may be pulled from class to answer the questions and get their temp taken. This is time-consuming for staff and students, so we appreciate your help in getting these forms filled out each morning!

If your student is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, please keep them home and contact your doctor.

Box Tops

Did you know that there is an app for that? It's so easy and simple. No more cutting and collecting those tiny little box tops. You simply sign up through the app and scan your grocery receipts. Check it out!

Follett Book e-Fair

The library will be hosting a Follett Book e-Fair from October 12 to October 26. The code for the fair is MEE7W, should you need it.

Profits from the e-Fair will be used to buy additional books for our RCS library.

Teacher wish lists will also be available on the e-Fair's Portal. Books make perfect gifts for teachers for Christmas, or simply to say "I appreciate you!"

Books will be delivered to RCS within 2 weeks of the e-Fair's ending date.

If you have any questions, please contact Carla Hardy at chardy@grcs.org

Thank you for your support!

School Pictures

Our retake date is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28. Please let the office know if you are planning on your child participating in the retake date.

Family Time

At Rockford Christian, we start each week with Family Time. Although we cannot yet gather in person as a whole community, we do not want to miss out on this important time of worship. You are invited to join us each Monday from 8:45 am — 9:00 am over Zoom.

Please use this link and be sure to turn off your camera and microphone when you arrive. Thanks!

Outdoor Education News

We also have a new theme in our room: Water. In light of this, our pop can/spare change fund will now be designated for two new water filtration systems for two families somewhere in our world. This project is in conjunction with World Renew, a relief agency affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church. It has been a busy couple of weeks, but the smiles, the learning, and the appreciation for God’s beautiful world continues. Thank you to all of the students for their enthusiasm and energy!

Moms In Touch

Please join Moms in Prayer on Wednesdays from 8:45 am — 9:15 am to walk & pray for our students whenever you have time. We meet in the back corner of the front parking lot. You are welcome to bring your younger ones in strollers to pray & walk with us.

When the weather begins to get too cold, we will be moving to Katie Underwood’s home. We will post that date via Facebook & the home bulletin at a later date.

If you can’t join us on Wednesdays, here is a link to the mobile prayer sheets. Also included are the websIte & instructions on how to find the prayer sheets. You can use the prayer sheets to pray for your children anytime!

Moms In Prayer | Prayer Network | Christian Community

To get to the prayer sheets via the website. Scroll down to the prayer sheets & click on prayer sheets. Then again, scroll down to prayer sheets. Under the prayer sheets, there are different attributes of God listed in alphabetical order. You can choose to click on the download or the mobile version of the different attributes, and it will give you 3 scriptures to read and scripture to pray for your child. Just click on the scriptures listed & you can read your favorite version. This is a great tool to use to pray for your children! God bless!

Please feel free to reach out with any questions. You can contact Leesa Christophel at 616.719.7388 or at leesachristophel@gmail.com.

Recess Volunteers

Volunteers are needed daily to supervise children on the playground. Afternoon recess takes place from 12:20 pm — 12:55 pm (elementary until 12:40 pm and then continue to cover middle school until 12:55 pm).

Please consider volunteering as you are able. Kids LOVE seeing loved ones during recess. You can sign up by clicking on Sign-Up Genius.
