Rockford Campus News

Welcome back! We hope that you and your families had a great extended weekend!

School Pictures

Mark your calendars! School pictures will be taking place on September 20 and 21. Parents may place an order online for school pictures by going to inter-state.com and use code 59781FB.

Class Supply Reminder

If you have not already dropped off your $10 to the office for your student's (K-4) class supplies, please do so as soon as possible.

Preschool Class Looking for Oakie Suits

At RCS, our Preschool classes use Oakie Suits for outdoor play. Does your family own an Oakie suit that you would like to sell or donate? We'd love to offer them to our incoming preschool classes!

Bring gently used Oakie Suits to the office, clearly labeled with a family name, size, and price. We'll collect them through September 14, and then well offer them to our preschool families and return them if unsold.

Contact Kristin Buursma at kbuursma@grcs.org with any questions.

Parents in Prayer

We have a unique opportunity to gather as moms, dads, and grandparents to pray for our school — little siblings are welcome too!

Parents In Prayer will be meeting on Thursday mornings after drop-off. We will again be meeting outside and walking around the campus. We will follow the guidelines given by the Moms in Prayer organization. You can find the resources that we will use here.

We look forward to having many parents join us this year!

A Note From Outdoor Ed

Outdoor Education, at Rockford Christian School, focuses on different facets of God's world. Environmental education, creation appreciation, science, building outdoor classrooms, and connecting classroom learning with the outdoors are all parts of what we do. One component of our program is the service-learning piece that we offer our students as they enter middle school.

Each grade has two different opportunities to be blessings to our community: the adopt-a-park program and the service/volunteer component. We believe students should learn how to reflect God's love by giving to others. We do so with multiple visits to each destination. Here is a list of our middle school line-up for this year:

  • 5th Grade | Adopt a Park: Pickerel Lake, Volunteer/Sevice: Preserve Grass Valley Orchards
  • 6th Grade | Adopt a Park: Versluis Park, Volunteer/Serivce: Frederik Meijer Gardens
  • 7th Grade | Adopt a Park: Seidman Park, Volunteer/Service: Plainsong Farm/Adopt-a-Highway
  • 8th Grade | Adopt a Park: Huff Park, Volunteer/Service: North Kent Connect/Adopt-a-Highway

To find out more about these arrangements, just ask Mr. Phil. We look forward to sharing God's love beyond our campus!

Kids Care Information

RCS is excited to offer Kids Care Before and After Care for registered families. At this time, Kids Care has very limited space. If you are in need of Before or After Care, please email Emily Jansen at ejansen@grcs.org.

For those who are currently enrolled in Kids Care, here are some reminders:

  • Kids Care will be taking place in Room 101, which is located in the first room in the elementary wing
  • Before Care: The front doors will unlock at 7:15 am. We ask parents to walk their children into the building
  • After Care: For pick up, we also ask you to park and go into Room 101. Often in the afternoon, the students will be outside. If so, there will be a note explaining where they are exploring/playing
  • Snacks are not provided during Before, and After Care, so you may want to pack an extra snack for your student
