School Closing Announcements

When school is unexpectedly closed due to weather-related or other reasons, parents/guardians will be informed via a text message from Tom DeJonge, superintendent, using InTouch, the new parent notification system GRCS launched this fall.  A notice regarding the closing will be posted on the GRCS website, and on radio and local TV channels (as we have done in the past).  The media notification may only inform parents of Grand Rapids Christian Schools being closed and may not list specific buildings (due to changes in how the media outlets cover school closings) unless specific buildings are closed.

Please note that parents with elementary students will also receive a message before 10:00 a.m. from their child’s school with learning activities for their younger children to do during their time at home.  Middle school and high school age students will receive assignments via email for completion before the next school day.

Please contact your building principal with specific questions!

Expedition Kindergarten — TONIGHT!

Please join us for Expedition Kindergarten, a special night designed just for you and your preschooler! Come explore Kindergarten at Rockford Christian tonight at 6:00 pm. This fun, camping-themed event will begin with dinner in the Rockford Christian Lobby. From there we will take a hike around the school so your child can experience several Kindergarten activities. You won't want to miss it! Childcare will be provided.

Questions? Contact Linda Vellenga at 616.574.6015 or LVellenga@grcs.org.

Operation Christmas Child — Donuts for Sale!

We need donuts to sell at the OCC Snack Store on Thursday and Friday morning at break time. Can you help us out by stopping at the grocery store and picking up a dozen? A reminder that OCC packing items are due by this Friday along with cash donations for shipping costs. Thank you!

RCS Ski Club

Calling all skiers and snowboarders. Join the RCS Ski Club by purchasing a punch pass that will make skiing/boarding at Cannonsburg more affordable. The passes are good anytime during the season. Email Kristin Buursma at kbuursma@grcs.org to get a form or stop by the school office.

Moms In Touch

Moms in Touch meets on Wednesdays at 2:45 pm. Please join us in prayer for our school.

Parking Lot — Drop off and Pick-Up

We have noticed that both parents and students need a reminder about drop off and pick-up times. Students are to remain under the canopy at all times until a parent comes through the drive-thru line OR  a parent retrieves their student(s) from underneath the canopy and walks with them to their car. Students are not to leave the canopy area unattended.

There is to be NO pick-up in the middle school parking lot area. That parking area is for BUSES ONLY.

NO PARKING under the canopy at both drop-off and pick-up times.

Thank you for help in keeping students safe.

Recess Gear Wear

The season has changed and the weather has turned colder and occasionally damp. Please have students come to school prepared with outdoor gear for the weather. A fresh air break is very important for busy-bodies and we try to go outside as much as we can.
