I wanted to take the opportunity this week to congratulate two GRCMS seventh grade students who won local essay contests in the first semester.
Richard Verhoef wrote an essay for the Veterans of Foreign Wars' scholarship program. Richard's essay won first place in the local VFW contest, which earned him a cash prize and moves his essay along to the next level of state competition.
Henry Jackson wrote an essay about the women's suffrage movement that was chosen as this year's winner of the Daughters of the American Revolution History Essay Contest. Henry is now invited to a luncheon to be recognized and his essay moves on to the state level of competition.
We are very proud of these two young men!
