Grand Rapids Christian Elementary School - 9 years

Do you have a favorite year that you worked? What made that year stand out in your mind?
Loved them all but the most exciting, challenging and satisfying were always the 1st year in the new place.  2010-2011 really stands out.  We had a new building a newly combined staff and a new combined community.

Tell about a moment in your career that you will never forget, possibly at an event or with a student.
September 11, 2001.  I was in my office when a teacher came in and told us to watch what was happening in New York.  We watched the plane hit the second tower.  At noon the entire school gathered around the flag pole outside and we prayed together.  I don't know why the idea to gather around the flag and pray came to me but I am glad it did and will not forget it.  My appreciation for Christian education grew that day.

Tell about your greatest learning from a colleague, student, parent or PD Day.
Always keeping growing.  Always serve.  Always know where you are going.

A principal friend once told me that when he taught he was responsible for the success of every child and when he was a principal he was responsible for the success of every teacher.  These were words I have tried to live by.

What are you looking forward to or what is your next adventure?
The usual...freedom to travel when I want to, taking care of grandkids, helping parents, playing more golf, discovering new places, and not getting subs in the morning.
