The Richard and Helen DeVos Center for Arts and Worship is the realization of a long-held vision for the Grand Rapids Christian Schools. It's a state-of-the-art facility where students can develop and express their artistic talents and come together for collective worship.
The Center for Arts and Worship is not only meant to serve the 3,000 students of the Grand Rapids Christian Schools but also to be a place for the community to gather for performances and worship.
Due to site constraints and a desire for intimacy, the Center for Arts and Worship has a unique configuration. The 1,205-seat auditorium features an internal bowl that can accommodate smaller groups on the main floor. The Mezzanine and Balcony levels bring the audience close to performances. The 5,045-square-foot stage has been constructed with resilient wood flooring, a hydraulic orchestra pit lift and a fully rigged fly loft. Backstage support includes a scene shop, costume storage and a make-up application area.
The DeVos Center for Arts and Worship is also home to the Gerbens Art Loggia, which hosts several art exhibits throughout the year, and is open free to the public daily, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, and during all performances at the DeVos Center for Arts and Worship.
