Evergreen Principal's Corner

I typically use snow days as an opportunity to read some of the books that I have stacked on my desk.

Today I'm reading The Curious Classroom: 10 Structures for Teaching with Student-Directed Inquiry by Harvey "Smokey" Daniels.

The Title of Chapter 4 is Begin the Day With Soft Starts.  The author suggests that we "let kids find their own way into the day..."  This leads me to reflect on how we start each day at Evergreen. I typically walk through the school halls between 8:05 and 8:15 a.m.  During that time I hear prayers, scripture, and singing. I often pause at a classroom door to sing a song with the kids.

I'm so grateful for Christian teachers who begin each day with our children in prayer, scripture, and song.

Grace and Peace,

-Ann Bakker
