Dear Evergreen Families,

Two of our excellent educators have chosen to retire from their current positions at Evergreen at the end of the 2018-2019 school year. Mrs. Witteveen and Mrs. Haan love Evergreen.  They love the students, families, and staff and will miss the Evergreen Community. We are sad to see Mrs. Witteveen and Mrs. Haan retire from their current positions at Evergreen, but we will celebrate with both of them as they begin this new chapter in their lives.

Mrs. Witteveen has served as a K-4 teacher in Christian education for 43 years.  She began at West Side Christian School in Grand Rapids where she taught for four years.  She then moved to Grand Rapids Christian Schools. Mrs. Witteveen has been the beloved Team One Evergreen teacher for 18 years, since the very beginning of Evergreen.

Mrs. Haan has taught grades K-5 in Christian schools for 27 years.  She has been at Evergreen for the past nine years. Mrs. Haan taught in Team Two and currently teaches in Team Three.  Her creativity and love for learning have inspired teachers and students at Evergreen.

These two excellent Christian teachers embraced the Evergreen pillars of inquiry learning, multi-age classrooms, and a balanced calendar.  They faithfully and lovingly nurtured and taught the students in their classrooms over the years, and they both mentored many current and future educators.

Please join the Evergreen Community at the Retirement Open House at Evergreen on Thursday, May 23 from 3:30-5:30 to honor Mrs. Witteveen and Mrs. Haan.
