The Starting Point Matters

The starting point matters.  Where you begin will impact where you end up.  As we look forward to the start of the 2019-2020 school year, we want to make sure that we are starting from the right place and pointed in the right direction.

As Christians, our starting point matters in having an accurate view of ourselves and the roles that God has called us to in His world.  “The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us, not by what we are and what we do for him” (Romans 12: 3, The Message).  At GRCMS and throughout GRCS, we partner together with families in the lives of our students to help them to know who God has made them to be and to help to direct them in living their lives to build His Kingdom.

This year our school theme will be “Dream Small: Do Small Things With Great Love.”  We do want our kids to think about and aim for big ideas, but we also don’t want them to miss all of the little things that they can do each day to make a difference in building the Kingdom here.  We are going to emphasize the daily “little things” that they can do or that others do for them.

We want to be observant about, practice, and appreciate those little things and, also, appreciate the people who do them for us and others. As Mother Teresa showed us with her life: we all are able to “do small things with great love.”  Check out Josh Wilson’s song “Dream Small” to better understand the theme idea.

We look forward to the upcoming school year as we do all of the little things that add up to big things for the Kingdom and the development of young people to be effective servants of Christ in contemporary society!
