This is the time of the year when we field lots of inquiries from prospective parents in the school office.
Prospective parents have many reasons for wanting to send their children to GRCES but the one reason I always hear is that they want a Christ-centered school experience for their child. I assume that is the main reason you send your child here too.
I've been thinking, do you think we all have the same definition of what it means to be a Christ-centered school? Are we Christ-centered because we teach the Bible? Are we Christ-centered because only Christians send their children here? Are we Christ-centered because the kids here don't swear? These kinds of questions clearly show that being Christ-centered has different facets and some different meanings for different people.
So, is there an understanding of being a Christ-centered school that we all share? Is there a meaning that forms our foundation?
The answer is yes! Jesus himself laid it out. We are Christ-centered because His words guide us. "Love the Lord your God...love your neighbor." Our school is founded on these words and everything they mean.
As the school year draws to a close, we can look back and be so thankful that we have had these words as our guide. These words have been reflected by our dedication to serving all children. Inclusive education makes our school complete. They have been reflected in our school programs and worship times. They have been reflected in all of our service projects. They have been reflected as we have solved problems on the playground. They have been reflected as teachers have prepared and taught lessons. The list goes on and on.
What a great time of the year to say thank you to God for this school. What a great time to remember what a blessing a Christ-centered education is for our children.
Parent Input Forms: The staff will begin constructing next year's class lists soon. Making class lists for the coming school year is an involved process that requires the input of all staff members that know your child. If you have input you believe the staff needs to know as they build the class lists, you may pick up a parent input form in the school office. Requests for teachers will not be considered. Forms must be returned by Tuesday, May 22 to be considered.
