Rockford Christian Principal's Corner

Dear Rockford Christian Families,

I hope this letter finds you all well and your summer in full swing. Whether outside, traveling, or at home, the summer months afford us time to connect with family and friends. As our first day of school, August 19th approaches, I look forward to connecting with you as a part of the Rockford Christian School Community.

In our classrooms and outdoors, students at Rockford Christian are being equipped as effective servants of Christ. Here, our students learn about God’s world and discover their place in it. They hear God’s story and find themselves a part of it. As we learn and grow together, our theme for the year will be “Love in Action” taken from Romans 12: 9-21. Christ is at work in our school. I pray our theme will help us to see and show His love this year during our Family Time, classroom learning, outdoor education, and school-wide activities.

In addition to our theme, I want to highlight some upcoming school events:

Back-to-School Open House | Thursday, August 15, 5:30 – 6:30 PM
Our back-to-school open house allows parents and children to meet teachers, see classrooms, and connect with classmates and friends. I look forward to seeing you there!

First Day of School | Monday, August 19, 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Don’t forget those first-day-of-school pictures! Our first day together will be Monday, August 19th. There will be no RPS busing at the noon dismissal time, but GRCS buses will be running.

Opening Family Time & School Year Dedication | Monday, August 19, 11:30 AM
All RCS parents are invited to our first Family Time of the year. This special event allows us to come together as a community in praise and worship to God. It is a wonderful way to end our first day and start the year. We hope you can join us.

RPS busing will begin on Monday, August 26.
Normal full-day school hours (8:30 -3:15) will begin Tuesday, August 20th.  Students dropped off before 8:20 will stay in Kids Care, which opens at 7:30 AM each morning. Kids Care is $5 per hour. After School Kids Care will begin on Tuesday, August 20th.
 
Classroom Connect | Monday, September 9, 7:00 — 8:00 PM
Classroom Connect is your chance to hear more from homeroom teachers about curricular highlights, classroom routines, and expectations for the year.
 
Back-to-School BBQ | Thursday, September 12, 5:30 – 7:30 PM
I tend to think the best friends are made over food. Come join us for a meal together as we celebrate the start of another year! More detail will follow from the RCS PTO in the Home Bulletin.

One other important detail I would like to point out is that we need all preschool, kindergarten, and 7th grade students as well as all students in 1st-8th grade who are new to RCS to submit their required health appraisal form, up-to-date immunization record or certified waiver, and birth certificate to the school office by August 12.  Your child will not be able to start school until these forms and documents have been submitted.

We eagerly anticipate the upcoming year and praise God for His many blessings. It is humbling to be a part of such a committed and caring community centered in Christ. Thank you for your continued prayers for RCS, support of our mission, and trust with your children.
