ORDER OF EVENTS

Refreshments including coffee, milk, and cookies, will be available throughout the evening.

7:00pm - Opening Program

Hear from high school principal, Brad Mockabee about life at Christian High School, as well as an insight from our high school student panel.

7:30pm - School Expo

Take this time to explore the tables in the Town Square and learn about our various student clubs and extracurricular opportunities including athletics.  Explore and learn about various functions of the school such as curriculum, hot lunch, transportation, technology, GRCHS Summer Session, admissions and more.

8:00pm - Breakout Sessions

Attend up to 3 breakout sessions. See Breakout Session descriptions below.

In addition to the sessions, if you have specific questions, we will have tables set up in each department for you to stop by and have all of your other questions answered.

If you would like to receive a tour of our facilities, stop by the “TOURS” table in the lower Town Square for a student led tour.

Before You Leave Get Your Free T-Shirt!

Don’t forget to fill out and drop off your Student Information Card at the admissions table before you leave to get your GRCHS Eagle Pride T-shirt as our way of saying, “Thanks for coming!” 

If you let us know what sessions you attended, you will also be entered to win a family athletic pass, food service gift certificate, GRCHS gear, and a $250 certificate to cover the 2019-2020 Student Assessment Fee (includes books, laptop insurance, and athletics/fine arts pass)!

BREAKOUT SESSION OFFERINGS

Applied Business

Students will have the unique opportunity here at GRCHS to take courses offered through our business program.  Learn about computer applications and programming, accounting, marketing management, and finance.

Athletics

If you are interested in playing a sport, or want to discover what other ways there are to get involved in athletics.  Hear from our athletic department as they share what we offer, what makes our program unique, and how to get involved.

Bible, Theology & Spiritual Life

Find out to how we integrate faith and learning into every subject along with what students will be studying in their Bible and Theology classes.  Hear about how we do spiritual formation outside of the classroom, and discover ways students can get involved.

Counseling Services - Honors, AP & College Planning

Hear from our counseling office about the various honors and AP courses that are available to our students.  Learn how we support students and parents in preparing for college over the course of your 4 years, and what resources are available to you starting now.

English

Come and learn about the different courses we offer, which electives students may choose, and how we prepare students for college-level writing.

Fine Arts - Music

Are you interested in being in Band, Orchestra, or Choir while at GRCHS?  Come to this session to learn about these programs, what levels we offer, and extracurricular opportunities in music.

Fine Arts - Theater

Learn about the courses we offer including musical theater, production, and acting.  Or perhaps you are interested in getting involved with our musicals, plays, or behind the scenes doing set construction or costume design?  You will also learn about all of the extracurricular ways you can get involved in theater at GRCHS and what is coming up in the 2019-2020 school year.

Fine Arts - Visual Arts, Design & Engineering

Discover our studio art as well as our engineering, architecture, and design programs.  As part of this presentation you will be given a brief tour of the various art and technology classrooms.

Math

Discover how we are able to meet the needs of our diverse student body through various math courses.  Learn about the support we provide for students who struggle in math, along with the college level math courses we offer for those who excel in the subject.

Science

See our classrooms and labs that were designed in partnership with the Van Andel Education Institute.  Hear about how we are transforming science education to include more student collaboration and inquiry-based learning.  Learn how GRCS’ adoption of the Next Generation Science standards is changing the traditional sequence of science curriculum.

Social Studies

Through our Social Studies department you will have the opportunity to take courses in Law, Government, Economics, History, Global Issues, Psychology, and Sociology.  Learn more about these courses as well as AP offerings.

Teaching and Learning for the 21st Century

Come hear about the systems that GRCHS uses to make sure that ALL students learn at a high level.  We will discuss our daily schedule, assessment and grading practices, interventions, and academic accountability.  

Winterim

Winterim is a 2-week amplified learning experience that all GRCHS students participate in every year through taking unique on-campus courses, dual-enrollment college courses, internships, and travel experiences.  Learn more about this program and how it transforms the lives of GRCHS students. 

World Languages

Explore our French, German, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese language options.  Hear about opportunities to learn abroad through exchange programs and Winterim.
