Parent Partnership

We believe the best educational results are achieved when parents, teachers and students work together in a true partnership. Research continues to indicate that parental involvement is essential to provide students with an excellent academic program.

Parents are encouraged to become involved at every level of their child’s learning experience. Together, we are better able to identify the learning styles, interests, and motivators of each child.

We ask parents to partner with staff members in nurturing their child’s spiritual, social, emotional and academic growth through:

Involvement in the learning process
Supporting the young adult’s spiritual formation
Prayer for the school’s endeavors
Volunteering with the school

Looking for ways to get involved in your child’s education? Here are some on-going opportunities at the various grade levels.  Please also check your school home bulletin, contact your P.T.O. representative, talk with the school principal, or your child’s teacher to find other areas where we need your help.

Elementary Schools

The Parent Teacher Organization (P.T.O.) is an active organization that supports Grand Rapids Christian Schools, strengthens the bonds of fellowship among GRCS families, sponsors a variety of services and programs for students.

Some of the activities and fundraisers the PTO sponsors include:
  • Prayer support groups
  • Magazine sales
  • Family nights
  • Room parents
  • Hot lunch program

Each school needs volunteers to serve one-year terms in the PTO, and on various committees. Contact your PTO representative for opportunities at your school.

Furthering Community

A strong community is a key part of Grand Rapids Christian Schools. To support this, families that are new to the school system are paired with existing GRCS families.

The mentor family:
  • Calls the new family to welcome them
  • Attends a special GRCS welcome dinner with the new family
  • Stays in touch with the family throughout the year to see how things are going and ensure they’re aware of all the GRCS events

If you’d like to be a mentor family, contact the principal at your school.
