Please invite them to attend our next Meet Us in the Middle event happening on Friday, January 24th. Visiting students are able to shadow and see what it's like to be a student at GRCMS for the day.

Prospective parents can find out more about what makes our school such a great place to grow, achieve, and thrive, and then take a tour of the campus.

Registration is required ahead of time so we can match visitors with host students.

Part-Time job opening at GRCMS

GRCMS is looking for a part-time student support team member to work with students in the 5th and 6th grades in reading and math.  This position would be about 12 hours per week. We need someone on Fridays, but the other time in the week is somewhat flexible. A teaching background is preferred.

Please contact Sian Zylstra at SZylstra@grcs.org to submit your letter of interest and resume. We will accept applications until the position is filled.

Homework Club

December invoices and any outstanding balances have been sent out. Also, please note that there will be NO Homework Club on Monday, January 20, as school is dismissed at 12 noon. Please make alternate plans. Thank you!

Grand Rapids Christian Day at Calvin University

Please join us on Saturday, January 25, as Northwestern Mutual is sponsoring the Calvin University basketball game at 3:00 pm. Come watch three Eagle graduates who now start for the Knights basketball team as Alex Bos (2015), Thad Shymanski (2017), and Emmett Warners (2017) take on the Hornets of Kalamazoo College. Adults can pick up free tickets at GRCHS or GRCMS main office. Kids 18 and under are free so just adults need tickets. Don't miss this chance to enjoy great basketball, see your friends, and support GRCHS graduates!

7th & 8th Grade Dance 🤠

It's time to break out those cowboy hats! This year's theme is Country Western for the Middle School dance. Please join us on Saturday, January 18, from 7–9 pm in the school gym. The cost to attend is $5 at the door. Please no cowboy boots, as they aren't good for the gym floor. If you are able to chaperone or bring snacks, please sign up HERE

Protecting Young Eyes

Parent Presentation on February 4 at 6:30 PM. GRCMS Village Square: Digital Trends 2019-2020 — Equipping Kids to Thrive in an Increasingly Hostile Online World

Preschool-High School parents are invited to attend.

We love technology, and we know kids do, too. This popular presentation will address YouTube (can it be controlled?), social media (our expertise), pornography (let’s talk about it!), gaming addiction (is this a real thing?), screen time (what’s the right amount?), tricky people (stranger danger in the digital age). and so much more.

Participants will leave with a whole list of steps they can implement immediately to better equip their kids to make better online choices. Don’t miss this valuable opportunity to hear from internet safety experts.

Click here for a short video about this event.

Middle School Math Competition Results

On a Tuesday afternoon in November, over 80 students at GRCMS voluntarily (or somewhat voluntarily) participated in a rigorous math competition called the AMC 8.

This is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice middle school examination in mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills.

We are so proud of all of the students who challenged themselves. Special congratulations to our top scorers:  Levi Fynewever and Isabella Brady-Peters (top score), Hannah-Grace Wildschut (2nd) and Luke Witte (3rd).

Lost & Found

All lost, but never found items were donated to New 2 You over Christmas break!

Outdoor Recess

Cold weather is here! ❄️

With cold weather and snow, just a reminder to make sure your child comes to school with warm clothing appropriate for being outdoors! Students are still expected to be outside during lunch break.

Preschool and Kindergarten Registration are now open to current families!

We encourage you to register your child as soon as possible to save their seat in either preschool or kindergarten at www.grcs.org/register.

Remember to use the passcode: GRIX2020.

We want to make sure all of our current families and staff have the opportunity to register for preschool and kindergarten before we open registration to new families starting this week.
