Expectations

1. Our teachers will be focusing on the essential learnings: what each student needs to know before moving on to the next grade level. We assume that all students will move on in the fall, and we want to get them ready to do so. Teachers will continue to plan and teach each week and will still be assessing and grading student work and giving them feedback. You may access their grades in StudentVue or ParentVue to keep up on progress.
2. You will see links below to grade-level schedules from each teaching team. The general parameters will be that school lessons (work provided and scheduled Zoom lessons) will occur between 9:00 am — 1:00 pm Monday - Thursday. Fridays will be a lighter day with instruction, time for catching up and providing make-up sessions, as well as providing teacher collaboration time for the following week.

3. Teachers will be available daily from 9:00 am — 3:00 pm to teach sessions, host Zoom lessons and conferences, and to answer e-mails. They will also check-in at other times, but we also recognize that they are balancing families at home and need to manage those needs, too. Communication with students and parents will come out each morning between 8:00 am — 8:30 am with the plan/work for the day.
4. Regular communication from your child(ren)’s homeroom teacher(s) about specifics for each day will continue as we get back from Spring Break. The overall feedback that we have received from parents about off-campus learning has been very positive. We know that we can continue to tweak things, and we appreciate your on-going communication and partnership with us as we learn together.
5. If there are particular questions or concerns that you have about your child, please contact either your child’s homeroom teacher or Mr. Burgess (eburgess@grcs.org) or Mrs. Seth (sseth@grcs.org). We are continuing to look at ways we can modify and adapt to craft the best situation for each student.

Things to count on as we move forward:

1. We will continue to lift each other up in prayer.
2. New learning and growth will happen as teachers provide new content in each core subject area at least two times per week. We assume that all students will move on in the fall, and we want to get them ready to do so.
3. Teachers will continue to assess student work and provide feedback. Middle schoolers may access their grades in StudentVue or ParentVue to keep up on progress.
4. Essential learnings, assignments, and plans will find a schedule and rhythm appropriate to each grade.
5. Students and parents will receive the plan/work for the day by 8:30 am.
   Instruction will happen Monday — Thursday, with Fridays set aside to catch up on work, provide student support, and allow for teacher planning and collaborating.
6. Teachers will be available daily from 9:00 am — 3:00 pm to teach sessions, host Zoom lessons and conferences, and to answer e-mails. They will also check-in at other times, but we also recognize that they are balancing families at home and need to manage those needs, too.

Expect the following in grades PK-5th:

1. Posts for the day will go out no later than 8:30 am.
2. A suggested schedule each day. We are aware of the variety of home realities. Please know our teachers are flexible with what can be managed at your home.
3. Your child’s teacher will teach via Zoom or YouTube at least 8 lessons a week.
4. We desire to stay connected with your child personally, so expect at least one group Zoom meeting, phone call, email or letter each week. The teachers have created an Evergreen Zoom schedule. It won’t be perfect, but we will attempt to avoid overlapping Zoom meetings as much as possible.
5. Your child will receive content in specific subject areas including Literacy, Math, Reading and Bible. Science and Social Studies as well, which may be included within a reading or math activity.
6. Your child will be able to experience co-curricular activities (art, music, PE, technology) at least once a week.
7. Monday through Thursday, teachers will be busy focusing on student learning each day from daybreak until 1:00 pm. From 1:00 pm — 3:00 pm, teachers are available for your communication. Please send emails anytime.
8. On Fridays, teachers will be available to students and parents from 9:00 am — 11:00 am. From 11:00 am — 3:00pm teachers will be planning for the upcoming week with their grade level teammates.
9. Online learning will resume MONDAY, APRIL 13, the second week of Evergreen’s scheduled Spring Break.
10. The Evergreen school year will conclude one week earlier than originally scheduled. The final day for preschool students will be Friday, May 22. The final day for grades K-5 students will be Thursday, June 11.

Expect the following in grades PK-5th:

6. K-4th students will experience all of our co-curriculars (art, music, PE, technology, Spanish) at least once a week.
7. Monday through Thursday, teachers will be busy focusing on student learning each day from daybreak until 1:00 pm. From 1:00 pm — 3:00 pm, teachers are available for your communication. Please send emails anytime.
8. On Fridays, teachers will be available to students and parents from 9:00-11:00. From 11:00-3:00 teachers will be planning for the upcoming week with their fellow grade level teammates.
